BAJA 500 thread

Yeah I read that too. Not good! Hopefully the 11th hour man can pull it off.

if they seized a motor.. I know they have 3 or 4 other Mavericks in the fleet they can pull a motor from. I'm pretty sure they will be there. No real reason not to be.

The racing gods are working us hard, don't want us to make the 500. The thrashing gods said, "F U, we're doing this". The sleeping gods are MIA. The gods of stout are hard at work. We'll be there. A couple of winks shy of fresh, but we'll be there. You ain't getting off that easy Money bags:D!

How's a BRP engine seize? I thought they where pretty much bullet proof.

Don't let the Rotax faithful know even their motors can fail. LOL

Badassmav - That sucks the motor let go. Good thing you have a back up motor. You can get it done!!!!!!

Johnny snuck in and pulled a six pack switcheroo to sabotage the monster Mav.
GO REID GO!!!

That motor was dropped, so Im not taken back by it failing at all. Rotax Power is still better than a Popo any day. LOL.

The motor was dropped on the clutch side. I don't know much about thrust bearings, or if the crank has them, but it was the bottom end that seized 14 mile in. I measured the runout on the crankshaft where it fell, and it was .0005". I made the call to go with it because it wasn't bent. Obviously, something went wrong in the fall, and my decision was a poor one. There was no other motor available, so I did what I thought was necessary. The front spindles are off because to pull the motor, you have to pull the drive shaft. To pull the drive shaft, you have to pull the diff, axles, etc.

that sucks. A big opertation like you guys i would have thought you had spare motors for your spare motors.

good luck

Well all I can say to be positive on a shitty deal like this now is that it didn't FAIL half way down Baja. ;)

LOL! Like I said you Rotax guys are always in denial. Well if you don't mind winning races on a consistent basis, then I see your point. I would go with the Rotax power too! :D

Come on Badassmav you can do it. Get that thing dialed in so we can track an exciting race in Baja!!!!

Im also curious to see what you find that caused it to seize up, like the oil screen pick up knocked off or misaligned crank and rods or piston pin. You know they build those and set them up Tighter than a Nuns C^#T, LOL.

Unlike the hippo's hatchet wound on the Polaris.

Well ya know them POOlaris are bad news when they just OOOZE fluids out of there case seals. LOL. There on top of there machine work and tooling. Hehehe.

I thought that was the Wildcat that oozes fluid out of the case seals! LOL!
