I did learn while pre running this race is not about us racing each other this is a battle of US VRS Baja and not if you come in first but if you make it to the finish line at all !!

Good Luck Everybody

other then that is a nice smooth fast 500 miles so set you car up soft and low

Sunday morning, 6:30 a.m.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

We are now up to 15 entries. I know that Simms and Mattlock are in...plus with a couple of last minute AC entries and local entries we should be up to 20. Not too bad! Woot...woot! :)

I am in for sure, I will be sharing the driving duties with Alonzo Lopez in the Alba / GlazzKraft 1949 car. This class sounds like a blast to race in and I can't wait to drive my section. I had a blast pre running it on a dirt bike, now I want to rip it up on four wheels.

So, is anybody interested in a pool for $100, winner takes all? I know we touched on it early in the thread, but I haven't heard anything about it since. I had fun with Johnny betting Marc's grand (it's always easy betting somebody elses money), but that's a tetosterone-laden wager! If there's a UTVUG rep to hold the cash, and at least one more racer to bet, I'm in for a hun.

Hey Johnny, are you flying solo, or sharing the agony with someone else? I'm impressed that your last post appeared to be humbled by the pre run! It could be a long lonely night out there if things go wrong, but just think how awesome it would be to boast and blow if we show up for the Baja 150, and not the 500! Our car is still far from ready. Got to bed at 5 this morning. Now, a hydraulic sandwich, then hump to get our slug to P.C. for some re-assurasnce. Marc asked how we deal with the money thing. I say we exchange the cash between each other on Friday. Then we both know that we came to play! Or, the jibberish we laid down online is fine as well.

Gotta go. I'm a man, and I've got work to do!:D

Time to go racing ladies!

Any guess on what time we will go off the line or average speed? I am thinking noon and 39 mph. Wayne...you might know. Looks like the weather is cooperating and if there are no 5/1600 and 7 trucks causing bottle necks, we should be able to show the world that Utes can do WORK!

I'm thinking 39 MPH should be a good number after some research I did from past races and the given course layout. But then again I'm new to UTV's. That is figuring a good run with limited down time, but that's always the plan.
I am not used to bottle necks and that kind of stuff, that would really suck in some spots after El Coyote.

The cars have improved by leaps and bounds since last years race. Average speeds should be way up!

Lets do this! :D

Agree, but the course is WAY different. We ran in the dark in VERY thick fog, in silt for the last 220 miles. This year won't be like that. Zero fog issues...much shorter course. The cars are maybe a little faster than last year but not that much faster. :)

It takes a lot to get an average speed way up. We are planning at finishing around 10:45. I think that's faster than last year by a fare amount.

Yeah...a ton. I think we finished at 4 am or something last year. But again we ran at least 70 miles further and we had to deal with the fog.

Wayne are you starting?

I was thinking it was closer to 6am. I think the sun had just came up.

I think TTs were talking about finishing in 9hrs this year.

I guess Im hoping for a 35 to 37 Average you other guys are real racers with some crazy fast cars and im still a rookie poser that found a extra bag of money to go racin .. when I see you guys coming please be easy on me ill pull over asap and let you around my stocker much over 55 mph my car is all over a smooth dirt road ..

Badassmav I plan on doing around 260 to 320 miles then Brian Bush the Prince of Baja will take over ill probably get out at 260 since he is a lot faster then me and has a lot of races under his belt hes been doing this shit his whole life, he had like the worlds fastest Rotax Powered Rhino that won many a race in its day and still to this day drives a bad ass 4 wheel drive Datsun street car around

You also had to deal with the summit.

No I'm getting in at RM150 just in time for the fun stuff.

I'm the best.

Question, how many race suits and helmets do we need at tech? 2 each I would assume?

Also, the registration line was painfully long at the 1000...... Is there a time of day when the line isnt hours long?

You need to tech a helmet and suit for every person getting in the car. So if you have two drivers and two co-dogs you will need to tech four helmets and four suits.

Yes the line at the 1000 was painful. To avoid the crunch either get in line first thing in the morning or wait until the line clears out and push through mid to late afternoon. My 2 pesos

One helmet and one race suit for each person. As far as registration goes you can do that on Thursday and its not so bad.

He's busy putting in axle shafts and other various suspension components

How right you are! Pulled an all-nighter, now I'm delirious:confused:
