BAJA 500 thread

All this other stuff is small talk. What we all want to know is where is the Badassmav as we speak?

It seems we stood and we talked like this before...............................Still thrashin. I'm hoping to fire it up at around 10 tonight. Then another 2 or 3 hrs to consume the last of my loctite, zip ties, and cooold beer. Then..........trailer that slug to Enchilada. Testing early tomorrow a.m. from start to Ojos. We had to tear into one of our new Maxs' to rob the engine. Shop and myself are a mess. I'm glad I don't have to do this $hit sober!

Cool Git R Done! Everyone is posting how there over there enjoying Mexico eating lobster and tacos. There going to be so fat by the time you get there it should be easy pickins.

Good it will keep you and Mark from Getting the Shits from cheap Mexican Beer and tainted Tacos. Lol. Sure would hate to get a bad case of Mexican Shits in a 500 mile Jiggler. Lol

I'd like to close out what has been an interesting and entertaining thread, to say the least. Before I do, I want to thank the UTVUG members that without their participation, this thread would have lost steam long ago:

Sandshark, Crazywatson, Warlock, Mearsman, Baja XP, Nikal, Frankie, Markflexes, JaggedX,
and especially Johnny for their kind words and good sportsmanship. I have thoroughly enjoyed interacting with all of you, and you are what makes threads like this one what they are. Entertaining, yet competitive at the same time.

I will summarize my Baja experience in a post a bit later. Lots of stuff that came our way in the last 24 hours prior to taking the green flag that I have not yet shared here would have suggested that this race was not ours to win. Truth be told, Marc and I nearly withdrew from the race just hours before the green flag, because of complications with the car and its preparedness to race. We don't want to race a race just for points, and Marc certainly doesn't want to race a vehicle that is not competitive. Our win in the 500 is again a testament to the package that you all are up against. I know that I am brash and bold in what I post, and that I am relatively new to this forum as well. I did not expect to make friends by the content and possible arrogance of my posts, I merely have been stating facts about the threat that we are. It's not a fluke, and it certainly isn't luck. The results we are enjoying are indicative of Marc's ability to drive a car, and our cars ability to be driven. Hard and reliably. Add in Mexico, and like I said before, NO-ONE can beat us there unless we beat ourselves. I do believe however, that Branden will eventually beat us on a level playing field, and there is not much we can do about it. But not in Mexico!

So, all of you nay-sayers can eat your words, because we have proven what I have been boasting to be true. Like it or not, our car AND driver is BADASS!!

Reid, I will start out by saying congrats to both you for building and maintaining am awesome car and Marc for his ability to piloting that fine piece of machinery! You have proven yourselves as one of the best in the industry and I feel you have earned it.

With that being said, I appreciate the amount of confidence that you have in my ability to drive, build, and maintane my car to be a threat to the Monster Mav race team. I look forward to continuing racing with/against a team of your guys level! To be the best you have to beat the best, right!?

Once again great race and kudos to Marc for also iron manning it I know exactly what he went through! We'll see you guys at the next race.

You have no idea how close you came to picking us off at the end! Right around Ojos, we lost the front diff, and the car was drastically slowing. It's my guess that, based on the speed that you carried coming around that 2nd to the last corner before the podium (I was the guy by the outhouses on the right side of the course giving you the cheers), that you would have caught up with us if given 4 or 5 more miles. Our car was so slow and beat when rounding the final turn, that yours looked like a trophy truck in comparison. Nice job! We'll give you another shot at us at V2R.

ahhh fuck .... I suck

Congrats guys you all kicked ass on the most brutal race course in Baja's History Thank you all for letting me Play
