Four-wheel drive road up Alamo Mountain from Piru Creek. Steep and rocky. Connects with road 7N01, Lockwood Trail, Gold Hill Trail and Piru Creek Trail. Obstacles include: giant boulders, ski jumps, high berms, tree roots. If riding a motorcycle, be careful of the jumps so that you don't case a boulder. For 4X4's bigger than a Jeep, it's better to go over the boulders rather than between them.

Gorman and Hungry Valley SVRA are on I-5 near the Grapevine.

Camps can be set up anywhere in the area and there are about 20 fire rings, a vault toilet, but no picnic tables. There is plenty of space for RVs, but the forest road contains switchbacks that would be difficult to navigate with a trailer over 33 feet long. The road is paved halfway up and turns to dirt. The dirt road is a rocky and bumpy ride which makes it slow going for a 5th wheel. There also isn't enough room for opposing traffic when going up the mountain with a large trailer. Towing a 26 foot trailer up the mountain took about 65 minutes going 5-15 MPH. We also had to hug the ledge to let some 4X4's by. There are spots where a trailer going the opposite direction could not pass so one of you would have to back up to a wider spot in the road without a ledge. We advise only driving RVs on this road during day light hours in order to eliminate the danger of damage or slippage off the road (steep drop-offs with no rails) and to better coordinate with opposing traffic.

Dutchman campground is where we will end up for lunch. Great place to take pictures, so bring your cameras. I would never recommend anyone tow their trailer to the top of Alamo. Very narrow, cliff hanger of a road. Only one way traffic for the most part...................I had the boys with me up there last year and almost literally stepped on a snake curled up in the middle of Dutchman campground. I has just got done telling my 6-year old earlier "there are no snakes up here".........now he's thinking I'm a dumb-ass....
