Miller Jeep Trail run to Mt. Pinos

Well, Me and RedRzr (Mike) found this gate at the mouth of the Lockwood Creek / Miller Jeep trail today. The ranger told us all the Frazier trails and Alamo are closed due to storm damage. He also mentioned they might have to do environmental impact study before they re-open trails. What a bunch of "you know what"!! I have already emailed the PM 4wheel club who maintains the trail to see if they can tell me when it might be opened. They were just up here last weekend doing some trail repair work

Here is Redrzr, crying by the river entrance, due to the pain of knowing my personal pain of this gate being closed. I have hope. I am keeping the ride a "go" for one week. If its not opened by next weekend, and there's no opening in sight, then I will need to plan this cool ride later this summer maybe.

Tell mike I said HI...........Hope to ride with you guys soon.

Hope to see you guys again soon. I was hoping maybe this Miller Jeep trail run, but I might have to re-plan this ride for a later date. The damn government just can't get their crap together. Why red tape the hell out of everything. This is just pissing me off tonight...

Wow,just got emailed back from the Point Mugu 4X4 club. They said they got half the trail cleaned up last weekend (lots of trees from rains), but a member got injured when he rolled his jeep, and they had to get him out of there fast. He thinks the trail is going to re-open in June, as another forestry crew is heading up there this week. I offered to meet them up there to lend a hand with clearing this trail, so maybe I can contribute....I will keep you guys posted this week.. BTW, there is a flat area for camping right at the trail head with no fees, according to the ranger. The road getting there is a little tricky, but me and RedRzr think if you take your time, no problem, just a couple small dips.

I thought Mike was taking a leak that's for clearing that up :D If we can't do one miller we could save the trip date and do the other miller canyon, its your thread Dave your choice ,just saying . :)

Rich, I was thinking the same thing. Lets do Miller Canyon if this doesn't work out this week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Miller Canyon sounds good if this doesn't work out:) Or if everyone want's to try something new and get a change of scenery, we could head out to Jawbone Canyon. Lots to do and see there, and tons of space for RVs:D
Or we could just spend the weekend at Hungry Valley. Lots of fun trails and hill climbs there.

It all sounds good , but I would try to keep the changes as simple as possible just saying. Dave again thank you for all your doing and have done to make the trip go smooth.

Here is a great local 4X4 club taking care of a trail they have adopted, so the rest of us can enjoy the best of California OHV trails. These are some pics from the trail clean up ride last weekend on the Miller Jeep trail. They had a guy loose his brakes and roll many times with some injuries to the driver. Thank you to the Point Mugu 4X4 club...

For those who want to bring their Mo-Ho's in to staging area and toy-haulers, redrzr and I think no problem. The ranger said he see's toy haulers in there too. There are a couple "dips" in the road, which Mike thinks a trailer might scrap on the back end a little. THe road is pretty well maintained and even. The staging area has a slight slope, so leveling front to back will be needed a little bit. There is room for at least 6-10 toyhaulers at this area for sure. Hope this helps. You can also ask redrzr about this area

GREAT NEWS!! The miller jeep trail ride is ON!! The Frazier Park ranger station confirmed today they are opening all the trails this Saturday and Alamo mountain. If you want to do a different ride and try something new, this is the one!! Sign up for some camping and riding!! I most likely will be tenting it and will be going up Friday after noon on the 10th. The cell phone reception up there is spotty at best, so be prepared (I have verizon). I might go up Saturday to do some riding and stage out of the Frazier Mountain staging area above the Chuchupate ranger station, if anybody wants to tag along for a short day ride.
