MDR CA200 Memorial - 8/13/2011 - Barstow!!

this isn't about judgment or who did what or why. This is simply a memorial statue to remember those whose lives were lost, changed, and forever affected by this tragedy. Were people too close to the track? YES. Were people using bad judgement standing there? YES. Does that make their life any less important or this tragedy any less traumatic? NO

Fast-Aid and many others have worked very hard to help the families of those who lost their lives in a terrible racing accident. Volunteers made this memorial statue to remember the day and those who lost their lives. I am sure the word memorial has a certain meaning but I have been to memorial's for family members and friends who have passed away. This is no different. Splitting hairs over the meaning of the statue and what this event is called is not necessary.

Think of it as that white cross on the side of a highway. Someone made a bad decision and passed away, it is there to remember them, the tragedy, and the place that forever has changed those involved. or affected. Nothing more, nothing less.

Dan I agree, Just like John's sticker "Wear then for me" reminds us to be safe!

Robert Rosa is a Memorial and should have all the support and funding that a bad decision has;) It is also fuel for those who would like to see us gone! We need to define our heroes better! We are in the mess we are because we have lost our way!

I am not trying to rename the monument - just trying to seeing your point of view.

FYI - read this on another forum. Belive it or not there are other forums! LOL

***MDR Memorial and Slash X Alert*** The BBQ tomorrow is back on. We will have Ribs/Chicken and sides. We will have limited use of the Slash X kitchen so please bear with us as we work out the kinks. All proceeds collected from the BBQ will go directly to the Lynn family to help with their expenses. Please spread the word.

WELL SAID JOEY. I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING ABOUT THE CROSSES BY THE ROADS & SHRINES ON SIDEWLAKS WHERE SOMEONE WAS SHOT. IT IS IN MEMORIUM. NOT CALLING ANYONE HEROES JUST ACKNOWLEDGING A TERRIBLE EVENT THAT COST 8 LIVES.

We know there is another forum. Race-dezert.com but thats it. Just 2.

Buy or but?? LOL
This wasn't directed to you Rusty. Dont get all defensive bro. Having a bad morning? Just my .02.

I was just saying there is only two forums worth visiting. The one you are reading this on and race-dezert.com. I am having a great day. I am always in a great mood. I was not being defensive. We like competition but right now there is none.

Rusty, I am not interesting? ;)

I agree now, but 20 years from now it can be used against us? It is not wrong to memorialize the people for their families, but not the deed or action, unless you learn from it! I would rather see the aid works memorialized!

As I have said many times I choice to celibate Life not the scene of the tragedy and have never agreed on the "Road side" show! That's what graves are for! Most public displays of grief are for personal release and a process, I just can't get behind making mistakes acceptable! Why not a Memorial to all that have given everything for the sport including the racers who have been killed? I feel for the people, but the framing of this could have been better as well as the message!

How about an Off-Road Memorial "To those who have given all to the sport they loved" List of names: ~

In the name of racing, competition, development of a better and safer sport! (Then add names as needed, including Lynn, for his support of the sport).
If he were to pat you on the back, you would list it on your resume.
Both sides of his pillow are cool.
When in Rome, they do as he does.
He’s won trophies for his game face alone.
He bowls… Overhand.
