JaggedX RZR XP900 BITD race car build thread...

first off let me say great build jagged X you have definitely stepped up your game on this build, With that being said I have an issue with cutting off the entire suspension points and making new ones, The rules state " All a-arm mounting points must remain the stock design, and remain in the stock location as delivered from the manufacturer, however they may be reinforced for strength"
reinforced for strength means to me gusseting the factory mounts not make new ones I understand in some instances that after a crash a mount may be crushed or torn off and needs to be replaced.
We are trying to grow this sport and keep the cost to a minimal but when you have people building full tube chassis and "laying" in the factory frame it only drive the costs up for other people to try and compete with them

I totally agree with this, I do not believe this in keeping with the spirit or legality of the rules.

im pretty sure as long as the suspension mount points are in the same place it makes no difference. And anyone competing in bitd better be ready to spend money or not compete... stock mounts gusseted properly would be close or the same strength as "Custom" mounts in the stock position IMO

It really really makes not difference if you keep the stockers, beef up the stockers, or build your own mounts, I think what Undergrounders and tech inspectors are going to question is how are you going to reference the stock location when there is nothing left to reference. Slight geometry changes can make a big difference on cornering performance and suspension movement, makes no difference otherwise.

It's already been done. We sat a stock RZR XP900 next to the car and had it inspected by UTVRA/BITD tech. Every possible measurement was taken and everything has measured up EXACTLY, meaning that the fabbed portions of the race car are IDENTICAL to the dimensions of the stock car. There are ZERO geometry changes at all. Safety is the sole reason for building the car in this manner and I would hope that everyone has that as their primary focus during a build.
Now that that's covered, are there any other legitimate questions regarding the build?

it wasn't a question it was a statement, as stated above how is the tech inspector out in the field supossed to measure it as their is nothing to reference from. Are they supposed to "take your word" for it??? I do not believe you did it with the intent to "cheat" any measurements it just the fact that it isn't any where near a polaris xp anymore

That pretty much states how it is legal to race ..."We sat a stock RZR XP900 next to the car and had it inspected by UTVRA/BITD tech."

I dont why you think they have an advantage since they arent even changing the shock geometry.

Can someone tell me what the point of having the rails actually is, if thats ALL you have to use?

Exactly, literally had a bone stock RZR XP900 sitting next to it to make measurements off...not sure where "take your word for it" comes from? I assure you, every measurment was taken to make sure it measured EXACTLY. Re: "anywhere near a Polaris XP anymore"...it literally matches up exactly...so really confused on how you're confused?

Alright hatters, lets get back to the point of the thread, LETS SEE MORE PICS ! This car is bad ass..........Jagged does not win races by cheating they win by team work, hard work and the love of the dirt.

Totally agree Breven. I think Jagged X has a hell of a team with teamwork, hard work, perseverance and determination. That is what makes them winners.
Okay, more pics, pics, pics, pics...no pressure..hehehe

new and innovative builds will always draw criticism. Its just means you are changing the game and pushing the envelope. MORE PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

Great Job on the build so far guys!! I can't wait to see it in the dirt.

where "take your word for it " comes from is, how is a tech in the field supposed to tech something IN THE FIELD that has no reference points at all to measure from if the entire suspension points are "not factory" and as far as shock geometry is concerned who cares about that it all changes with any aftermarket long travel kit I would hope that they dial that in to where they want .

my point is that this chassis isn't an XP anymore I have built many races cars over the years and pride myself on keeping as much of the factory chassis and Parts as possible anyone with a little bit of talent can build a tube chassis and throw a utv hood and fenders on it but in my opinion that is not good for our sport
BTW nice design on the arms they look kinda familiar!!

looks like an hcr arm ...

Well, they are boxed, so I guess they look similar to other boxed arms...sort of.

Anyway, there is as much factory XP frame as BITD rules dictate. Once again, we didn't write the rules, we just build cars that fit within the rules. We have built several cars that have competed in BITD over the past several years and they have all had similar design. We made sure it was inspected before being "in the field" to make sure that all measurements could be taken and verified as EXACTLY the same as stock.

...ok, this is the funniest picture ever on UTVUG!

What should the caption read? Caption contest...JD? :p

If Jagged X had anything to hide or was doing anything that went against the rules do you really think they would post a build thread about the race car with detailed photos of every step?

Oh, and is this car going to have 4 wheels on it? Because I always build my cars with 4 wheels so you must be copying me.

Good job on the build guys, keep the pics coming.
