So, to your knowledge, there was no bet(s) made? That's awesome. That means I only bet when I win! The 1000 course will favor the faster cars over us, without a doubt. Marc said it only has about 30 miles of speed zones. That means the other 1000 miles is wide open, which is about 65 mph for us. Our slug is gonna suffer down south, and Manly Marc will be
driving it solo, as usual. He'll be in the car for over 30 hrs. straight, and will need to make 4 belt changes to get to the finish line. At 20-25 minutes each change, that is 1 1/2 hours of down time. Add to that 10 gas stops, and we are looking at nearly 2 hours of guaranteed down time for our car and fatigued driver.
I dunno Johnny. If you ask me, the pickins' are lush for another Baja bet. Keep in mind that the 33 hours of time he is in the car, he is not airing out his balls or stretching out his legs, 'cause the drivers compartment is way too small to afford him that luxury. Our cabin is way smaller than you Schlomaris guys'. How much smaller? Picture jumping off a diving board and doing a good old fashioned cannon ball. Then, freeze yourself in mid air, grab hold of a steering wheel and while holding it close to your chest, force both of your legs on over to the right side as far as you comfortably can so you can reach the pedal assy, then hold it for 33 hours, all while the 120 decibel exhaust noise is reverberating in your ears. Oh yeah, don't forget to stick an oven between you and the co driver set on 250 degrees with a 300 cfm fan blowing the hot air into the passenger cabin. Do ya' think he might be a bit cranky when he rolls on out of the cockpit the following day, only to have to drive 2 days thru to make it back to the border?

So, I think I bought some of your Maverick tie rods last year. They were the 100% aluminum ones for around 60 bucks or so, is that correct? Do you also offer beefier toe links for the rear? You know, the ones that mount behind the rear axle and connect the aluminum hub carriers to the frame? We need a set of them, and a set of front tie rods for a 2013 Maverick (stock track width) that we are hacking together to go salvage some points in the Imperial Valley race in September. How about this for an affordable Baja 1000 wager:
You send out a set of front tie rods and rear link bars to our shop here in Jamul on an "imaginary customer account". If you beat us in the 1000, we will pay 4 times the price that you sell them for. If we beat you, the rods and links are gratis, because you, like me, just can't stand prosperity! I'll even pay the shipping costs c.o.d., as to help minimize your up front, out of pocket expenses. If you'd rather not enter into such an easy bet, Send us the parts anyway, and we'll just pay c.o.d., or cash up front if you prefer. We do need them in the next 2 weeks at the latest, so let me know if you have the parts, and if so, what it will take to get them shipped to our shop in Jamul, CA 91935. I'll even run some of your UTV Inc. stickers on our car for the race to help promote your business. How cool is that?
Just think, you can turn them out of 3003 annealed aluminum bar stock, and sabotage our car right under our noses
! Either way, let me know if you can provide the bars for us so I can either check them off of my massive to do list, or pick some up elsewhere. A new long wheelbase car huh? Are you going to post progress pics so I can pick it apart? Ha ha! I'm sure you'll build a badass racer.
