BITD adds new Pro Turbo Production UTV class

Jeepspeed gets an entry deal as a group which is awesome and as a self funded racer, every penny helps. They also handle their own tech which makes sense as the cars, technology require certain knowledge and score and bitd have not previously (under old regimes) been capable nor did they care to adequately tech class 1600, 9, 5/16 12 or 10 as they didn't have the interest, tools or knowledge. Art does and will but it was a cluster...

As a new dog owner: I'd just like a voice in the class rules and prefer a comprehensive tech and do not mind paying for it. I don't like the idea of rules being mandated w/o the class's input or consideration as that can and has lead numerous classes to allow concessions to meet builders, suppliers and other special interest desires and all it has done is alienate racers.

The last thought as a new owner is: It seems the class is overly concerned with keeping the mfrs happy. We have raced class 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, TL and sportsman for well over 20 yrs and historically any time you are overly concerned with suppliers, HOA's or any vested parties interests, or have an inner circle influencing or mandating rules, allowances or parts, the classes seem to have issues. Protruck, minimag, TL, class 10 and 1600 all had issues due to those situations...

JoeyD has offered it (in so many words) many times and it has been oft-repeated just as much...you guys are constantly blurring the line between this hands-off driven definition of "the class"...versus who is actually being sponsored, fudging the rules and/or having a vested interest in 'the class" commercially.

The former definition of "class" ('ideally' above) is what the fans thirst for. This single definition requires the racers themselves to stand up for what they believe in. If the rules say "x"..then they don't put up with "y"..they change them..they enforce them (absent actual adult leadership)...or the entire championship ends up meaning not a pile of beans in the end.

The latter definition (your 'reality' above) is how the world works. Those who want something worse than those who aren't willing to work, sacrifice for what they truly believe in or so much as raise a legitimate stink that puts them in the cross-hairs of those currently (cough) 'winning' (screw the rules/screw appearances)...win.

That's why at least some fans appreciate those who post up here with their "this is obviously b.s" opinions and (infinitely) more admirably risk their lives competing with those who proudly fit the latter definition.

There will be a winner every race.

It's how the race was won that matters and this season will go down in history as the poster child for everything that you and many others here have pointed out has been basically wrong with this sport..or should I say.."class".

Make no mistake that who ever wins this championship earned every bit of it and should be proud. Teams like Cognito and Jagged stood up for the little guy and along with other racers got changes done. I would like to see rules locked for atleast 2 years but at least progress is being made. IMHO this is a great season with a very tight points battle and cant wait to see how it shakes out.

Please educate (at least me) as to how any team "stood up for the little guy" this year:

One race winner (fighting for the lead) was illegally nerfed to the point of having be calmed down by his co-pilot so that he could effectively get past the incident (not retaliate) and win the race...

The "little guy" racing exactly what the "big guy" was racing at the beginning of the season...was forced during the season to watch videos of "the big guy" taunting him with "Do YOU have a Turbo???"..not to mention further videos of the "factory guys" explaining in vivid detail as to why absolutely everything to do with THEIR (now obsolete) cars has been a desperately-needing-to-be-improved 'problem' stretching far beyond this sudden light years jump in competitive horsepower.

"The little guy", his "defenders" and the 2015 championship race played by the rules while using the exact same set for "everybody" ...

...please pray tell us more...

You are calling our rzr xp1000 obsolete? We just won 2 races.

Are you a politician? Or a lawyer?

Here is the question again (for those who didn't get it):

Exactly who has been fighting for "the little guy" and in what manner (as tatum has suggested)...if the little guy is simply asking that the rules be obeyed and/or not changed to suit 'whoever'...in the middle of a championship points race (and how do BOTH requests from "the little guy" affect the validity of the latter).

It's the simplicity of the question itself.

You should go back and read all the threads you have posted in. Then you won't be asking such a question.

Both teams lobbied to split the class, you should go back and read the threads as you have no idea what you are talking about. Everybody has played by the rules as written and worked their ass off to get to where they are to contend tor the championship. You obviously have no idea what it takes to win a desert race. Hp is nice but suspension, prep, logistics, crew, are all important. A little luck doesn't hurt either.

where did you get this info that ecu remains stock?

thats just Simms hoping he is in the premier class. i believe there will be 2 premier classes, the na class and the turbo class. the unlimited class and sportsman class are not premier.

Simms started a rumor
the only thing set so far is the names of the classes

I'm not exactly sure why you have accused me of making up all this info and starting rumors, but all I have done is relayed accurate info. So before I am accused of starting rumors maybe you should do some research or call Corey. Also it's Sims with 1 M just like it is spelled when I post

The class is good!! But the rules are CRAP!! They fully eliminated aftermarket support in a PREMIER class!! What a joke! So the only aftermarket company's that can support the Premier race class are suspension??? If they want to keep the engines and electrical all stock, force everyone to run bone stock suspension!! Now you have something there! We will see who can drive and can keep a car together! Roll cage and fuel cell and lights, if were going to be stock, lets be stock!!

To say they eliminated aftermarket support is a pretty outlandish statement.

Here are the aftermarket areas not affected:
Seats
Safety equipment
Suspension / shocks
Wheels
Tires
Chassis (cages, bracing, general fab)
Lighting
Communications
Navigation
Electrical
Skid protection
Misc accessories

Can you modify exhaust?

Because you gave no backup. The rules still are not written and posted. I talked to Casey several times before I spout off, rather than start something and walk away for a week.

I apologize for not posting the messages that I received from Corey which I have now made sure to post. I also made sure to ask if the info that I read was public info which in fact it was it just hadn't been written in any rule book yet. I didn't think i had to post a bunch of stuff to back myself up, and I honestly didn't think I would be accused of starting rumors or posting inaccurate info from a team member. I was in Glamis for Camp Rzr/Terracross racing and unfortunately with my extremely busy schedule while being there and the complete lack of cell service I wasn't able to get on here to see that my statements were being bashed.

Im not 100% sure but I think the Polaris Turbo guys have already figured out a way to trick the ecu speed sensor for more top speed without touching the Ecu. Maybe Johnny or Branden can confirm this.

I haven't figured anything out on this yet

Sims was bouncing Rev limiter on the pavement at 83.1 I believe

With my 1/2 worn 30" ITP Ultracross tires I was hitting 80.7 MPH GPS on the river run in Parker, which is 5 MPH slower than my Xp1000 hit on that same stretch last year.

I have nothing to hide, feel free to ask me any questions. Hell put me in a diff car let me prep it for for the race and have my crew pitting me and we will still do well

From my understanding you ARE allowed to modify exhaust

When you don't have backup, that's called a rumor. The day you posted that, Casey told me they had not defined the rules yet, only the names of the classes. Funny that Cory calls it the premier class.

You would think a professional organization like the UTVRA would put together an official PR and send it to the sports media outlets and post through social media instead of group text messages? Maybe a PR from BITD would be nice, I mean, I like to think UTVs are a pretty important class in terms of growth and car count. I doubt the tech director for TT would just send a group text??

It's almost embarrassing at times....

FWIW & IMO: The word "Premier" is NOT dictated by Cory or even BITD! The Premier class will be dictated by the racers and the support / attention given by fans, media and sponsors alike. I don't give a flying F how fast or who is racing a Turbo, if 50 Production UTVs show up and there are only 15 Turbos then I'm sorry, you are NOT a lock to be coined as the "premier class." Even if the Turbos are laying down overall wins, Premier is reserved for the fastest growing and most well attended class which inherently garners the most attention, backing and exposure. I'm sure the turbo class is going to explode in growth and it very well could develop into the Premier class rather quickly but as it stands now, Pro Production is still the Premier class despite who is switching to race a turbo. Factory backed racers and tech directors like Cory don't dictate premier, the entire class does. You may be a premier team or premier driver but if you are racing against a much smaller field of competitors then it's hard to say you are necessarily racing in the "Premier" class.

With that said I could argue myself and make a case for the factory backed teams or sponsored guys committed to the Turbo class as being the premier names in the sport. But you can quickly fade into obscurity if the class you are racing in does not command the attention another class does.

I agree with that, but all i was doing was relaying info that I asked to pass along. I assumed that since it was straight from the source that it would be accurate. I didn't make up any of the terms "Premier" etc..... All i was doing was passing along the info. I guess Casey and Cory should figure out a way to communicate a little better. I wasn't trying to stir the pot at all

You didn't tell anyone the source, until tonight. I won't hold it against you I still like you
