[FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]The Weller Racing/Black Rhino SR1 Championship Series Round 1 will be held this Saturday, March 10[/FONT][/FONT][FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]th [/FONT][/FONT][FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA along with Round 2 of the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series. [/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]03/07/12 El Cajon, CA [FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]– "A series within a series" and it all starts this Saturday! Talks about an SR1 Championship Series have been in the works since Weller Racing came up with the idea awhile back. It continued to come together as Kenny Osborn, owner of Black Rhino, called out all UTV/SR1 owner/drivers on the UTV Underground forums. In Osborn’s words, "It is time to crap or get off the pot", Black Rhino would pay $50.00 cash to any UTV/SR1 driver that raced in the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series on March 10[/FONT][/FONT][FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]th [/FONT][/FONT][FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]at Glen Helen Raceway. In addition, Osborn offered Black Rhino’s services to help any racer make it happen including transportation and pit services. His goal? To prove to Lucas Oil that there ARE UTV/SR1s that want to race in their series’. "I am always hearing the difficulties facing drivers as to why they aren’t able to race in the series and I understand, it’s tough and I’ve been there. I want to make it possible for any driver that has the passion to race UTVs to have that opportunity", Osborn said. [/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri,Calibri]What happened next was the icing on the cake; Jason Weller of Weller Racing had been in contact with Osborn about putting together an SR1 Championship Series within the Arizona and So Cal regional Series’. Ken Johnson came on board to work out and finalize all the details with Lucas Oil. A Facebook page was created, flyers were made and it all came together. Weller Racing put up purse money of $1000.00 each round and racers were jumping at the opportunity. The number of racers who have committed is fast approaching 20. The series will consist of five rounds; two in Arizona and two in So Cal with the final race to coincide with the final showdown between the Lucas Oil Arizona and So Cal Regional Off Road Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on November 10, 2012.
