RZR vs MAVERICK vs YXZ - Who wins?

the word i got from some of the guys testing them out in Dubai UEA, they said it wouldnt climb all that great on the big stuff. starting out and getting it wound up, you start to wrap 2nd gear out and if you shift to 3rd it drops so low in the RPM that you dont have the power to recover. so you are pretty much stuck with winding 2nd gear out. gonna need more power to be able to upshift and then pull the mph to get 3rd gear wrapped out.

as the videos have been showing,

1st gear maxes out around 28mph
2nd gear maxes out around 42mph

you run 2nd all the way out and cant shift to 3rd and cant get it to pick up any more MPH unless you throw more power to it.

i agree with the above post, this thing would have been easy to add one more shaft and gear set in the trans to be able to have an actual LOW range as well as high range. would have been super cool. cause 28mph in 1st is insane for the slow speed crowd

I would think on Olds you could start in 1st, hit 2nd before whoops and 3rd after whoops, and hopefully pull 4th at some point. Given the wheel spin in the sand I could see 3rd wrapping out on the hill and needing another gear, yet probably couldn't hold it. Tire size and air pressure will let the hill shooters figure out the sweet spot for gearing and Rpms. Maybe with 28" paddles 3rd will be perfect for the hill. Time will tell

Paddles are just going to put more load on the motor. Especially paddles that are taller than the stock tires. Yamaha 27" tire and tall gear combo are going to plague that thing until it gets more power. Or lower gearing....

or revert back to the rhino tricks. a 26" 7 paddle. or a 9 stagger. get the wheel speed up thru the roof and be able to jam 3rd gear.

i seriously dont see it pulling 4th. thats 60+mph worth of wheel speed. a wound out RZR or Mav runs like 45mph, these new turbos are barely touching 50mph before the hill and not able to pull or accelerate faster than that. i dont see this yammie being able to stretch 3rd all the way out. i doubt you will see 4th on the hill unless you have a turbo YZX

Won't be long till we hear from the guy in the video as what gear we was able to pull, psi. Etc... Definitely curious.

Im pretty sure the YXZ wasn't built to be a hill shooter or a rock crawler. I bet with an exhaust, intake, and tune there will be a substantial hp gain as well. The intake and exhaust both look very restricted.

Certainly the YXZ motor is an awesome platform going forward. Much more room for performance than the current rzr and mav motors.

Yep. I look at it like a YFZ450 quad. A pure sport machine and a drivers machine.

Next up is some sweet YXZ dune air. Not expecting anything like this but look forward to some jump vids.

Well we've heard from the desert and dune guys. How bout some opinions from some cross country racing or rally raid guys. Not much sand out here in indiana for me to play in. My xp 900 has served me well in the few cross country races I've done. But I feel it's time to upgrade to the 1000s or the yamaha.

YXZ is the best platform for a hill shooter hands down in my opinion. 6 months from now Turbo YXZ's will be spankin ass everywhere. Driver is going to play a big difference though, not point and shoot like the Mav or XP's. Shooting the face at Sand Mountain Nevada a couple days ago which is longer than Olds, hitting my shift points made a huge difference in the YXZ. Only other UTV there mid week to compare to was an XP41K with paddles that could not stay with the stock YXZ. Going to be a real serious contender in the dez too with the right team. The whole shifting thing is a definite game changer though, adds serious fun factor.

Its not the Roll out thats going to Kill the Yamaha for Paddles its the Weight of the tires thats going to kill it just like all of these low HP cars. This car will be the one that needs the lightest tire and wheel combination possible. The Skat-Trak 12.50 models with 86 to 88" Rollout will work great to or the 92" Roll out as they are super light as well. I will bet everything on this one LOL. If somebody is dumb enough to run Stu or any of them heavy ass molded chinese tires good luck to ya. There will be no Springs and Helix kits to buy for the yamaha if a guy makes the mistake of buying a heavy molded tire and has to fix his mistake with a bandage of Clutching kits lol.

Back in the day Tim would run a 6 paddle glider on his Rhino and that thing would dominate all of them and it would piss guys off real bad. People never can wrap there head around the Weight and Rotating mass thig and everyone wants to over paddle to. Like now with the Turbo XP these guys get all excited and say things like man with all this new Turbo power Im thinking I need a 10 or 12 Paddle setup. OOOHHHH BOY here we go. Nope Run the same as the old N/A cars. LOL But people are so dumb about it that they will argue with ya on it. 2 cars that run the same and you put heavy tires on one and the Light weight stuff on the other and guess what car will out perform the other car in every aspect of driving from starting to stopping. weight Matters a lot. So I will laugh my ass of at the Dummies who put them heavy molded tires on the Yamaha and find out how unforgiving the manual transmission and the Shift points change up and kill it. hell that car will probably love a 6 or 7 paddle Skat you watch.

Sweet a 6 paddle off a 200sx...bitchin. Skat 8 paddle will be the tire of choice.
