Red Lands Racing/Motive Engineering BITD build

A huge Congrats to the 1919 UTV Inc Team on the Baja 1000! We have been on the edges of our seats keeping up with the race over the last few days. What an awesome experience just running the 1000....here's hoping we can make it happen for next year.

In the meantime, we have been working away on our build...it’s mostly been lost of researching and ordering components over the last few weeks, but we are on the downhill slope with that. For the most part we have everything here or on its way.

The physical construction of the chassis is beginning to come along. We are pumped to have Thad at Fabwerx on board to put together our Red Lands Racing designed and engineered custom race chassis.

Thad is well known for his high quality workmanship and his own custom designed and built cages and chassis. Even though he designs and builds most of his own stuff he was willing to build ours as per our design and specs.

If you haven't yet check him out: fabwerx1 on Instagram.

Here's what's left of the stock chassis all trimmed up, sand blasted clean, and mounted up to the jig table.

Excellent choice to do the chassis. He does amazing work.

I might be biased because he built my cage. :D

Can't wait to see the final product.

The chassis is coming together! Thad is right on schedule and will have it ready for us to pick up next week. Then its on to assembly...we have quite the to do list  I know what we'll be doing for Christmas :D

It looks like were already racing Zane. Racing to see who can get parts to Thad first! Your chassis is definitely threatening. Are you still on schedule to make the first BITD race?

Its been super busy and haven't had time to post. Earlier this week Ryan and I flew down to Cali to go check on the progress Thad is making and to hash out some of the final details. I have to say I am impressed with what he has done so far. He has made everything to our specs while at the same time figuring out a bunch of the little details himself like how to tie our chassis design into the factory rails.

Of course Marc's new car is also under construction at Fabwerx. Since Reid has had all the opportunity to spy on our design;) I had to take the opportunity to grab a Monster and see what it felt like to sit in the king's thrown.:D

Yeah, I took a ride over to Fabwerx this evening (another 300 mile drive for the second time this week) just to
l:eek::eek:k at your car. Marc and I actually, just got home. Crap! I'ts 1:30.

While I was there, I switched our parts boxes in Thad's office, then in a drunken stupor thought, "What the hell, I'll just take the whole Effen car!" Shit happens when you drink your breakfast, have a liquid lunch, then round out the day with a frothy hydraulic sandwich. Filled with liquid courage, I waddled over to your car and sat inside, fantasizing what it would be like to...............fall asleep! Thad kept telling me, "The bathroom's over there!". Once settled, I thought, "I could make a heavier frame out of toothpicks". I did get a good look at how thin your rear bumper is. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I don't know, but the battering ram that Thad affixed to the front of our car told me (bumpers talk to drunks, and amongst themselves, all the time) that he and your bumper got to talking and, well things got out of hand. Now, they're at odds with one another. Go figure!

That last part almost had coffee coming out my nose. That's good stuff right there.

Hahaha. The best part is you posing like me posing like Marc. Mine was just a candid shot but you put some effort into it to make sure it was right! You really should take a nap in Marc's car though. His seat is much squishier than the Sparco we have. In fact I looked all over for the lever to kick out the lazyboy foot rest but I couldn't find it. But hey, when the man iron mans the entire baja he needs a comfy place to park his butt.
