RJ Anderson DOMINATES the field at RD3 of WORCS in Lake Havasu
It was a great weekend of racing at the Crazy Horse Campground in Lake Havasu, AZ. WORCS staff put on a really cool SXS Expo of sorts at the track bringing out some of the best companies in the UTV industry including Pro Armor, FOX Racing Shox, Walker Evans Racing, Dragonfire Racing, Long Travel Industries and many more. The weather held off just long enough for all classes to finish their races preventing a repeat of round 1's mud bath at Glen Helen.
Once again Walker Evans Racing / Polaris racer RJ Anderson would take the checkered flag in the premier Production 1000 class at Lake Havasu. After a short 3 lap battle with round 2 winner and hole-shot winner Robert Vanbeekum in his Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx RJ and his RZR XP900 were able to check out on the rest of the competition taking home a solid win, adding to his season points total. Coming in a close second was WORCS racing veteran and hard charger Beau Barron who consistently remained in second place once he settled into his race groove. Beau and his still new Turnkey UTV Polaris RZR XP900 looked good as usual when skying the jumps at WORCS. D.J. Noerr in his #842 Polaris RZR XP900 would round out the podium and give Polaris the sweep in Production 1000.
Production 850 hosted its own battle in Lake Havasu with Jake Morton in his Polaris RZR-S taking the checkered flag. Battling all day and running extremely strong in second place was #2 David Lytle in his high powered Kawasaki Teryx. David looked extremely fast out there in his Dasa powered Teryx and his finish would be the only podium for Kawasaki racers this round. Rounding out the podium was Dragonfire Racing's own Kyle Melville in his sweet looking Polaris RZR-S. Kyle pushed and pushed but was unable to catch up to Jake and David, however 3rd place is still a huge success when you happen to line up with just under 20 others in your class!
Production 700 despite hosting its smallest field all season with only 6 competitors still put on a show. Luke Rogers in his Magnum Offroad Yamaha Rhino continued his dominance in the class with another 1st place finish, adding to his now large points lead. At one point Luke would hold a 45 second lead over second place but that lead was chopped down to only 2 seconds as the checkered flag waived. WORCS rookie Code Rahders who is competing in the UTVUnderground.com Polaris RZR 570 demo unit which is modified by Cognito Motorsports would not only turn off the classes fastest lap time of the race but would also prove that the little 570cc RZR was a strong competitor amongst the ranks of some highly modified Rhino engines. Code would battle back after being high centered on a berm on lap 3 losing 2 positions and a lot of time. Luke would hold on to a win despite racing on a flat tire for most of the final lap. In all this battle will look to be waged the rest of the season and it makes conversations lively and fun amongst the Magnum Offroad and UTVUndergound offices! At the end of the day UTVUnderground is pumped for Luke and Code alike as both are strong supporters of UTVUnderground.com and at the end of the day thats all that matters to us. Kayla Smith in her Yamaha Rhino would finish in 3rd.
It was carnage as usual for many of the racers out there in the UTV ranks. Multiple roll overs, blown corners, and high speed mishaps occurred often leaving vehicles parked all over the race course. WORCS staff once again put on a solid show, built an exciting race track, and gave both racers and fans alike another weekend of fun! Polaris looked to be the biggest winner in Lake Havasu with 2 first place wins and 1 second in 3 classes of racing. While Polaris vehicles surely dominate in trms of sheer numbers, the manufacturer battle between Kawasaki, Polaris, Yamaha, and Can-Am is very much alive. We look forward to round 4, we hope to see everyone out there!
Like always UTVUnderground.com wants to thank ALL the racers and site supporters out there running our colors and busting our chops for stickers! Thank you for all of your continued support as you are all the reason we are out there!!
