Mint 400 side bet

My brother said Sims took back off and came back pulling lambert in. Does that count as a finish for cognito? Took the win from Kristen Matlock. Who drove her car a cross the line.

Rules allow help from an official or fellow racer but are you still a racer after you cross the finish line ? I think your race is over at that point and your basically a spectator.....DNF imo.

That's my point. Once you cross the line your no longer competing. Your race is over. No different then getting hauled in by your own guys.

My teams car is already prepped for the next race....

What a bunch of assholes out at Pit B today!:D

I'm relatively sure there is a 250 ft rule that you must finish under your own power with absolutely no assistance. But I'm no BITD official nor do I make any decisions.... but I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of penalty.

Soooo.... How about them bitd official ecu swaps. Johnny didn't have 4wd which caused him to blow both back axles.

Y'all weren't there but Marc B had the same thing happen at the world championship. We were out testing the day before contingency working on his machine testing it and getting it prepped and suspension dialed and it all worked perfect. Friday at contingency the ecus were swapped as with everyone else. We went out Friday night to finalize some clutch tuning and realized the 4wd wasn't working. The supplied ecu didn't have 4wd working. After calling and raging all sorts of hell at 3am, Cory let the guys from peak powersports swap the ecu for another, and the 4wd worked on that ecu. Marc was able to go the following day and have a clean race.

Marc would have never known had he not been out with me that night after contingency and been testing the clutch to realize the 4wd wasn't working. Peak was out there with us testing as well and luckily after Marc caused a huge scene with Cory on the phone, Cory allowed peak to swap for another ecu and the 4wd magically worked like it was supposed to.

I bet Johnny wasn't happy with the 4wd not working. Typically you would assume it was a bad diff or bad actuator or bad switch. Clearly it's an ecu issue. Shit like this is going to cost a lot more folks a race this year. I wonder how far it's gonna go before folks really really start protesting.

I saw a post on the mint fakebook page that someone else was having ecu troubles from the supplied ecu. Wasn't it Guthrie? I think it was a yellow and white turbo.

I also read that the ct race works maverick was in and out of limp mode. They had to stop and cycle the key on and off 100 times to make it keep going. Wonder if that was a swapped ecu as well. That's the same thing that was happening to S3 at the Parker race. Their ecu was swapped before the race and they were constantly having limp mode issues and the ecu tagging the limp home mode limiter in the race.

The ecu swapping before a race is causing huge problems. Teams spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on entry fees and fuel and hotels and driving cross country to make it to these races, on top of the thousands and thousands they spend between races swapping parts and rebuilding and prepping. Some of the higher budget teams are spending well into the $100,000 a year in logistics and parts. Just to go out and an ecu swap before the race end up putting them out of the race at mile 7 and give them a DNF. That sure as shit can ruin a season.

Not sure how an ecu can go bad after finishing a race and also go bad after another 2 laps (225 miles)

Excuses are like assholes.

I am not sure exactly what or which racer you are referring to. My comment was directed towards Johnny's unfortunate day that never really got started. I read he didn't have 4wd and only a few miles out from the start broke both back axles and was pretty much dead in the water.

My statement was directed at how the ecu that was put in burnetts car at the world championship tech also magically didn't have 4wd. Were the ecus swapped at tech yesterday before the race? If so I would think that the supplied ecu in Johnny's car could have been the problem with no 4wd

Not exactly sure what you were trying to insinuate with your comment.

I don't know if Sims got permission from BITD officials but going backwards on the course is another issue
I ran up to the BITD official that was waving the checkered flag and asked if I could help push Cognito to the finish, she replied yes so I ran over to Cognito and helped them push it. According to the BITD official I asked it was perfectly legal

So what really happened? The Cognito car broke right at the finish line or they were towed near the finish line? I heard towed by Sims and then pushed......I think it's a legit question that probably deserves some explanation.

Simms did not drive on to course backwards george....he phisically ran onto course...and helped pushed the car across the line. The car broke 500ft from the finishline.

Maybe this is part of the confusion. Everyone did say push but there is a pic of a strap on the bumper.

Exactly someone towed the car and people just want to know the details. If BITD towed it was legal but you have to question if they should be influencing races by advancing cars in this manner. If not BITD then who?

That pic was taken 30 minutes after the official finish.... Brandon pulled the car up onto the stage as Utvunderground and Mad media want the car on the podium for interview's and photos

Here we go......

I crossed the finish line and went and parked in the long line of finishers. I looked behind me in line expecting to see Cognito sitting behind me and realized they weren't there. I looked at the finish line which was roughly 100 yards from me and saw Justin and his co-driver pushing their car towards the finish line and had about 50 yards to go. I jumped out of my car ran over to the BITD official that was holding the checkered flag and asked her if I a "competitor" was allowed to help him push his car. She quickly answered with a most definitely so I ran over to Justin who was completely exhausted and helped them push their car the 50 or so yards to the finish line. Once they crossed the line with the checkered flag Mad Media/UtvUnderground had us hook a tow strap to his car to get it up and on top of the podium.

Don't take the bait. The people who know, know you're a great person and competitior. Leave it be.

Sounds like good sportsmanship to me. Would've sucked if they beat you on corrected time though

Sims finished physically first but also had a minute of corrected time on Lambert also.
