Laughlin Desert Classic

Heres one to ponder for you points adders and times guys. If 1918 of Justin Lambert was allowed to run his NA car in the turbo class anyone wanna take a gander and see who would be in the top of points..Just curious
The whole turbo thing came at a bad time for Lambert. After years of product development, he fine tuned a package that was as reliable and competitive as the dominant and upcoming teams and chassis' in the sport. Right when he is postured to reap the rewards of his efforts, BOOM! In come the turbos. The moment that Cory unilaterally began defining this new technology and its introduction into the sport, It was evident that the repercussions would disrupt what plans anyone had for racing a ute in the premier leagues. The only top team not to make the leap to turbos was Cognito. He has a product to sell, and winning on Saturday sells on Monday. With 4 consecutive wins, and probable sweep for a class championship at hand, his company should be sending off a bottle fine cognac to Cory come December. As I have said before, a tuned and polished n/a car can match the turbos early on, but as the teams learn how to keep the turbos together, it is a fundamental fact that under the existing rules, the n/a cars will not be able match the turbo's times and average speeds. I noticed he was over 4 minutes off of the pace of the turbos in Laughlin. V2R should see that gap widen even more. One shake of my magic 8 ball has him racing a turbo in 2017, where he will be a year behind on the learning curve.

Hahaha you know I had to give you shit on that one! Who knows it may have never failed in that race had the race been 10 laps more, but it was fun to see that after our discussion.

Redlands/Motive have engineered a fantastic setup and many including I envy it. They did their homework and reproduced a top level highly competitive machine. Although I do know that they are still working out a few bugs
Yeah, that sucked! When I saw that, I could only laugh. Timing has never been my friend. I was enjoying my favorite drink at the corner store last month playing the lottery keno ball thing when I matched all 6 numbers.....2 games after mine expired! Hey Branden, On guard!

V2R can go 1 of 2 ways....1. we get our asses handed to us by the turbo cars as we cant match the torque and horsepower those cars make....or 2. The N/A car has the advantage of not having all the turbo issues in the HOT nevada desert..... In a Sprint Race 100% the Turbo has the Clear Advantage....in the Long Haul on a Hot Day....ehhh time will tell.

Also....you cant possibly think any lessons the Turbo teams have had has gone Unnoticed;)

All you beeches better worry about me winning the V2R overall. I'm coming for that #1 spot!

Lets not forget the HP loss found with increased Altitude. Its Approx 3% for every 1000 ft. Laughlin is about 500 feet, Vegas is around 2,000 ft and Reno is just above 4,000 ft. So from Vegas to Reno, depending on your HP you will see around a 6-11 hp decrease. This would be even more noticeable on engines that are not running a learning ECU as the engines will be running even richer. I dont know all the specs, but I have been told while Turbo engines will also see a decrease in HP with Altitude, the engine itself is more efficient and thus will have less effect vs. a N/A engine. With the amount of graded twisty mountain roads found at V2R this could become a greater advantage for the Turbo guys, if they can get the reliability & longevity that the N/A engines have shown in previous long distance point to point races.

I'm tired of hearing about turbos. Y'all managed to survive in a 90 min race. They've burned up heated up and rolled up race after race and still talking about what kind of damage their going to do. The Baja 500 is around the corner.........we will see.

I think you have turrets because you say shit out of the blue that makes no sense what so ever
I got smoked by the clutches? More like I got smoked because he has at least 33% more horsepower. You're lacking common sense, again.

Pump yer brakes there Turbo i am not sure how "up and up" you are on this whole racing thing. i know who you are and what you have done over the years i am not totally new to this game i have been helping teams since 2010-2011. not to the extent that i am now, but i have been around and heard your name for some time. in the wide world of racing pretty much regardless of what form it is, power to weight ratio is king. the heavier your turd wagon is, the slower it will be. the lighter you build it the faster it will be. The Cognito Hell Raiser cars are very well built, super light, and have a heck of a motor in them. I havent sat in Lamberts car, but i did work on Scott Yancys and its very well balanced and light and fast. Some of the racers in this class have been flat out passed in the straights and open areas by Lambert and Yancy. a light car with a lot of power is fast. an 1800 lb car that has 110whp has a better power to weight ratio than one of Marcs. which is 2000lbs and bone stock and also puts about 110whp out. you can try to say its a turbo that won the race when the Cognito car doesnt overall. that however is far from the truth. the Hell Raiser cars Cognito built are fast, light, well balanced, and have plenty of power to outrun the turbos both in a drag race and in longevity as you probably will learn if you ask the S3 boys about their race last year at henderson i believe when Scott Yancy drove around them in a straight away when they (S3) were flat footed to the floor. The Cognito car is well balanced, very light, and very fast and clearly has the driver that understands the machine and knows how to drive it to be fast and not break anything and the prep behind him to make the car hold together. He hasnt won the races this year by luck. hes been fast and hes won those races legitimately. When he loses a race dont be a keyboard warrior and start claiming its cause everyone else has a turbo.

I don't race for Cognito anymore. I don't speak for Lambert on what transpired at Laughlin.

well i know you dont race for them, but making an assumption that he was beat because of a number on a piece of paper in a manual is far from how desert racing actually transpires. but i hope i dont have to tell you that.

I never once was speaking for lambert. I assumed mearswoman was talking about me getting beat. A stock turbo vs a completely stock 1000 I was in.
