BITD Class Vote on sequential 5 speeds

Rusty brought something up to me on the phone the other day about creating a series using other races from different series. We could even have a series that raced only 6 races at Bitd and run for championship points outside of bitd. For example, create the UTV World Championship series. It races 6 races, one of them is not Parker 250, the 6 could be the rest of the bitd races or you could mix some in from snore and score. In bitd, and probly snore and score, you have to race all races in the season to be eligible for championship points, so we would not be racing for bitd championship, we would be racing for utv world championship crown. We could do San Felipe, utvwc, the mint, Baja 500, v2r, and a snore race. Something like that. Or we could run 6 of the 7 bitd races, but we would have Casey's attention when not many people show up to Parker. Who cares if Sappington wins the bitd championship next year out of a field of ten cars, not impressive and no real feat. The big deal would be, the UTV WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

We would pay an extra fee on the side of the regular race entry for an extra payback and cover some admin fees. Get utv underground and mad media to do some marketing, talk to all our sponsors and get them behind it. It could grow into the next big deal, and be the premier series.

Any thoughts?

kind of like the trophy lites did but no manufacters to back that series. You could do it need money and someone that has allot of time on there hand. Do you remember when C1 and trophy lites showed up to blue water grand prix.

I was thinking of the ProTruck series. This is hard to pull off. I think its time to fire up the ISA again. Have a manufacture rep's on the board. There is great potential with this class if its managed right.

The problem is that SCORE and BITD would never let you use their race names and brands to promote this series. It would have to be done as a "side bet" type series. TT guys have spoken about this for a while and that's why you have seen most major teams pretty much say F winning a championship, they just want to win big races like Parker 425, Mint, Baja 500&1000 and V2R.

-I love the idea of a UTV World Championship. Race 2-3 races in BITD, 2 races in SCORE and 2 races in SNORE. Which leads me to this:

-I think it may be time for Joey's SxS racing association. Just, keep the focus on racing and not so much on land use. There are already a lot of people focusing on land use (AMA, ASA, Blue Ribbon, CORVA, Blue Ribbon, etc) and another group in the mix would only dilute the voice. It could have a board that works with the various racing organizations and creates the rules.

-Let the Yamaha race in the premier Pro UTV class. I can't think of a reason not to let it race.

-And finally I know Joey is only saying 'the godfather' thing with his tongue firmly planted in his cheek, but if there is any 'Godfather' is should be spelled with an 's.' Mike Lasher and Tim Orchard had as much, or more to do with getting UTV racing up and going and forming the UTVRA as Cory did. And frankly I give, Bill Schueler, Scanlon, the Murrays, Lasher, Joey, Randy Anderson, Justin L, and a few others as much credit as anyone for growing the UTV class. They were able to get factories involved, build race cars, rally new competitors, sponsor teams, and show up and race on a consistent basis.

Firing the ISA back up would be a challenge. We do still have all the docs but it's way more than that.

What most people don't realize is all the work we put in behind the scenes for banking, legal, trademarking, building it as a 501c, etc. that's a lot of work, time and money.

Both the Trophy Lite & Pro Truck series were totally different. Yes they had a series, within multiple series (At first) Both pretty much ended up choosing one series at the end. But those are both spec classes where you had to not only buy the vehicle through the series, but all your parts and were spec'ed what brands of parts you could run. This is how they got there sponsors to support their series.

What some are proposing is more like what ProDirt did with Class 1. Except they brought the funding in by each team doing a buy-in into the series.

I bet they would allow you to use the race names as the other spec series who tried to run multiple series did. If not you go out to bid, so to speak and see what series are willing to give you the best support. Years ago there was a 5/1600 Coalition and series like MDR gave extra bonus money for running their race, BITD offered the V2R for $1 per mile entry fee. 550 mile race, $550 entry fee, but reduced the payback greatly. But it offered teams who could not or would not race BITD a chance to do it.

The problem you will have with this whole concept is all the teams with some form of manufacture support or sponsors are not going to break current contracts or leave future contracts. And unless you get all the manufactures to support this "UTV World Championship Series" then you will have nothing, as not one single team getting even an ounce of support is going to be willing to leave to run this new independent series. Polaris is going to want their teams to race the series they are paying large sums of sponsorship too. Or a race where they feel they will get the most exposure from, like the Mint 400 with Mad Media.

Then who is going to run this series? I dont see one single person currently involved with class 1900 taking control and making it happen. Heck I have yet to see anyone really take a stand against BITD and Cory. I hear and see a lot of whining and talking, but no action. BTW it would be a hell of a lot easier to take a stand and fix how BITD rules and Tech are currently being run then starting a whole new series.

I'm telling you guys, and Ive said it before. You need to stand together as ONE! All it would take is ONE race for the majority to boycott and NOT race, and when only a handful of teams show up, and none of them are the well known / factory supported teams. This will get Casey's & the media's attention and changes will happen.

I am willing to talk to Polaris about skipping championship points contention and the first race, if the rest of the oem factory teams are willing to do the same.

I cant race every race, and being on the East Coast doesn't help, but I think it is a great idea and also would help in any way I could if possible. I just don't think i could do much good being a whole day travel away.

The 5 speed is probably more of an advantage in itself than turbo but the rest of the car has to be there. Having all the power all the time w a bullet proof trans would be huge...... If it is.

Maybe you should check who is the title sponsor of that race because you might not get the best response from your sponsor.

Is almost too obvious to ask but has anyone spoke to Casey about this? His position is he doesn't recognize anything going on that's not in an email or phone call directly to him. He would tell you he doesn't know any of the Utv teams including the factory sponsored teams and he's never been on that internet thing Al Gore invented. Maybe we need to throw him a party and introduce everyone. :)

Might be a good idea to approach Casey directly as a group and hear it directly from him. How would it be if a conference call was scheduled with and 2-3 class reps and 30-40 members on the call? That would get anyone's attention.

Just FYI guys, The Yami is leagal in BITD according to the rules. UTV's must use factory transmissions. Nothing about CVT's or belts.

BTW I like the world championship idea. would definitely take some work. As for the TT's saying F the series championships.... don't really think that is the case. Just think it has more to do with where they are getting the most media impressions for their sponsors. 500, 1000, Mint, V2R. those are the big ones plus It looks like no one can beat Voss anyway LOL
