That's a Weller thing not to take advantage So what happens to the NA in the LOORRS series with the new turbos? Race together?
You seriously couldn't take 5 minutes to search before posting that question?
My son raced his bone stock RZR XP Turbo last Saturday night at LORORS to a 2nd place in the Unlimited class. He then race his XP 1000 to a win in Production 1000.
I guess you wouldn't know that though because the Underground doesn't go to the Regionals anymore.
He turned a faster lap times (.8 seconds) in the Production 1000 than he did the Turbo. The only difference between the two cars was the suspension set up, stock vs short course specific. Both motors are stock with Sparks Racing pipes and K&N airfilters.
In the main it didn't overheat btw.
Could I make the Turbo faster in stock form? Yes. Would it be insanely faster? No, not without hacking the ECU, and in desert racing that's against the rules .
IMO the only advantage the Turbo has over a NA is how it makes power, peak numbers don't mean as much to me since all that power is being delivered through a rubber band and with more hp comes more heat. Rubberbands dont like heat.
Everyone focusing all this attention on the Turbo is misplaced, the Yamaha with the 10,500 rev ceiling, manual transmission, and long travel suspension is most likely going to wipe out the field in the desert.
And Ill finish with this, Polaris never sits still, they will respond to the new Yamaha, and I cant wait to get my hands on one when they do.
