Best E-Rated AT Tire

My neighbors KO2 on a 2014 Ram 2500 lasted about 15k miles, they are almost bald! I had General Grabbers that did about 35K miles and now have Toyo AT2 with 5k miles and they are wearing great (2014 Ram 2500).I used to swear by the BFGs but not the KO2s on a heavy rig, they do not last.

The Toyo AT II wear great and you gotta Rotate all Tires regularly or they die fast especially on a Dodge as the Dodge front end seems to wear them all out fast

Tire pressure is also a huge factor. My ram 2500 powerwagon recommends 65 psi on the 285/70r17's that came stock which is fine because they are rated for 80 psi. My 315/70R17's KO2's have the same load rating but are only rated for 65psi. I run mine at 52psi which sets off the low pressure light but I have 10k on this set and they still look brand new. My truck weighs about 6700 from the factory plus all the junk I carry. Rim width is another factor. My factory wheels are actually a bit to narrow for the 315's so I expect a little more wear than normal but so far I have not noticed any. There are a lot a factors that affect tire performance and wear. Just like the rest of the vehicle, you have to perform maintenance to get optimal performance.

I heard that BFG changed the compound of the KO2s to get the snow/ice rating and that is why they don't last as long as the previous version did. Can't remember where I heard that though so take it for what it is worth. I will definitely be going with either Toyo or Nitto this next time around on my diesel.

Joey you list 4 criteria and I would say in my opinion the Nitto Terra Grappler is the best all around truck tire. I am on set 3 on 2 different trucks and all have lasted 60k or more. They come in some odd sizes that other manufacturers tires do not. The E load rating and 80psi max pressure make this a good tire for towing. I can air up with heavier loads and down with no or light loads.

Love my toyo At 35x12.5” on my 2016 Ram 3500 crew long bed have 6k towing miles
Pulling 26’ toy box and there great !! I’ve had them all and love these !!!

I currently have Toyo Open Country AT II on my truck. They provide excellent traction and are smooth on pavement. These toyo tires are not difficult to balance also.
