4 Seater or 2 .... What is the best base platform.

Hi guys excuse my noobness as I did search but didn't find much on this topic. I'm currently doing my research about running BITD and possibly some SCORE events and was looking at picking up a XP 1000 as the platform however I didn't know if it's better to start with the 2 Seater or the 4. I see guys running both and even saw that Jagged X offers conversion kit for the 4.

I can see the longer wheelbase of the 4 coming in handy for whoops sections and help add additional stability. However I could see the 2 Seater saving some weight and being more nimble. Also it looks like it's all 2 seaters in The WORCS series but I'm guessing that's due to tighter courses.

I would love to hear everyone's feedback and if this has already been discussed if someone could kindly link me to the thread it would be much appreciated.

Yes but jagged won the MINT in a 900 not a 1000. We (Cognito) did build a 1000 for seater. We wanted the wheel base.

I would think the extra length would be the way to go if you looking for comfort. Sure you could build a light weight 2 seater but your going to get bucket allot more. Weight seems like a 2 edge sword. The light weight 2 seater might be easier on the drive train but will not be as comfortable to drive. A long time ago my uncle told me a story about a trophy truck he asked why they not concerned with weight. The response was try driving a 2000 lbs truck 100 mph down a whooped out rode and driving a 4000lbs truck down the same rode.

You have to take into consideration the length of a 900 two seater and four seater then look at the length of the 1000s....

After driving both ( for a short time ) I said screw it and bought a 4 seater.
Mine will never have rear seats.

Sure, Its bigger and heavier.
It also rides a bunch smoother everywhere. I don't ride narrow technical trails, Im in the dunes and desert always.
It made sense for me.

Also, on the 1000 4 the spring rates are setup much better than the 2 seater.
The rear shocks have bigger shafts and bigger reservoirs.

All the 4 seater needs is a re valve and different rear pistons, Under $200 and the suspension is pretty great.

Long and low just looks cool as well...lol

You also have to decide if you're going to use stock (length) suspension....

Out of curiosity what would you guys (Cognito) charge to do a cage / conversion for the four seater similar to your new 1000?

I'm guessing buying a 2 seater is a lot less work / cost as well

We are getting ready to start another hellraiserxp1k build for a customer. Pros and cons both ways 2 seat vs 4 seat. The hell raiser is not just a cage build, it's a race chassis and it is expensive.

Yea Im sure its not cheap by any means. I was just curious to cost as the only hard costs I have been able to find is the Jagged X kit for the older 900 that runs 10K but it doesnt look as extensive as yours.

that 10k jagged x kit was a good deal, not sure if they are offering that anymore, give them a call and check. BiggJim or I will hit you up on a PM with some pricing. I am in the midst of a spreadsheet on this build with current customer, so i will have it lined out here soon to share with you.
