2nd Annual Robert Rosas Memorial Offroad Ride

DUNE DUMMY 29

OG Sticker Man - UTVUnderground La Familia
On Saturday July 10th, 2010. We are scheduling the Second Annual Robert Rosas Memorial Offroad Ride. (Robert Rosas was the Border Patrol agent murdered July 23, 2009 @ the border fence where the Memorial Cross is)
We will tentatively have the sign ups starting @ 7:00 A.M. The starting & ending point will be the Golden Acorn Casino off I-8 near Campo. We are planning a route that we can drive our offroad vehicles from the Casino to the Memorial cross. From there we can take border fence roads to The Tecate Train Tunnel & back. We are still in the planning stages so more details will follow. Rosalie Rosas, the wife of Officer Rosas plans on attending this event as she did last year. I think we will be charging $10 per vehicle & that will get you 5 free tickets for the drawing that will be held @ the Casino after the ride. More tickets can be purchased & all monies will go to Officer Rosas' family.
Call me Ronnie W. Golden @ 760-554-8417 for more info.
here are a few pix from last year's event.

Yes it is. We are meeting with the Golden Acorn Casino & the Border Patrol on Friday. We are having it on July 10th. We need prizes for the giveaways. T-Shirts, Hats, Stickers, Goggles, Gift Certificates or Anything that anyone would like to donate as prizes. Last year First Place was a weeks stay @ Sacred Rocks RV Park. We also gave away a Pro Armor Rear Bumper for a Rhino & a Universal light bar. We need anything that anyone would like to donate to this worthy cause or you can donate directly to the Rosas family. Please call me & let me know what you would like to give. Ronnie Golden. 760-554-8417. Thanks guys.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in Ronnie, but Sacred Rocks Reserve a.k.a Outdoor World is a pretty cool place to camp for the weekend. They allow you to cruise the rhino's (sxs's) all through the park, and the areas surrounding it that are within the property. IT has full hookups and pretty descent prices for weekends. They have a pool, and tent camping areas. The casino isn't but about 10 minutes or so from there. Just another option. I tried to make this ride last year, but the rhino broke before we ever left the park. This ride supports all the rights that we stand up for, as well as trying to implement new laws that will help secure our borders. From what I hear it was awesome last year, and I will be making it this year!

No problem Chris. We camp @ Sacred Rocks RV park from May 1st to October 1st every year for the past 6 years. You can contact them @ 1-619-766-4480. If you make a reservation before June 14th I think you can stay a week for $199. If not I think it is $47 a night. Tell them Ronnie sent you maybe they will make you a deal.

The Golden Acorn Casino will be providing hotdogs to the participants after the ride. We still need prizes donated for the drawing to be held after the ride. Thanks.

Only 2 weeks to go. We are getting more prizes every day & people that say they are going. We took some dirt trails yesterday that lead from The Golden Acorn Casino to BIA 10. So all offroad vehicles can be on dirt from the Casino clear to the Tecate Train Tunnel & back. Street legal vehicles can take Church Road (paved road)to BIA 10 & we will hook up & head to the Memorial Cross. If you plan on coming to this event, it will be dusty & hot so bring lots water, bandannas & goggles. Pack a lunch because we will stop somewhere close to the Tunnel for lunch. Check out the Tunnel then haed back to the Casino for hotdogs & the drawing. There will be a ceremony @ the Cross.

I will be picking up some prizes tonight from Imperial Valley Cycle Center. We would really appreciate it if some vendors on here could donate hats, shirts or gift certificates. We will take anything as prizes to be given out after the ride @ the Casino. We have gift certificates from Coldstone Creamery, Rogers & Rogers Toyota, Johnny's Burritos, Styles & Smile Hair Salon & Lee Tires. We have goodie bags from Lucky Market & JRE Motorsports. These are all from the Imperial Valley. Anybody in the San Diego area want to help us out? We will be more than thankful if you do. This is a fun ,emotional & somewhat dusty ride that is for a very good cause. I hope to see a bunch of people from the Underground on the 10th. Pack a lunch & lots of water. Joey do you think you can make it? (I know you are a really busy man.)

offroad vehicles that means CR250 is ok? Also does anyone have a dezert tank for 03 CR250 for sale? I dont know if i can make it the whole way around unless are they doing pits?

Yes that meens a CR250 can go. We will have a Chase truck with a trailer. He can carry extra fuel for you or anyone that needs it. I have a 5 gallon can on my Rhino full of fuel. Come on out, it is for a good cause & it is fun. A little dusty but a fun ride. We go through Smith Canyon which is a windy road in & out with lots of turns & nice scenery. The Tecate Train Tunnel is pretty cool & if we get there @ the right time we can see an antique train go through it.

Re: 2nd Annual Robert Rosas Memorial Offroad Ride.

Well guys there are just 4 days left until this great event. I am getting a great response from Law Enforcement. I hope we reach our goal of 100 vehicles. Last year there were 61 & around 120 people. We have added a few more prizes & will probably have more on Saturday. I am out of here see you on Saturday.

Wow, over 120 vehicles & over 220 people. We were able to collect & hand out over 100 prizes. We will be giving Rosalie Rosas around $2,650. Thanks to all that attended & thanks to everyone that donated prizes. Mrs. Rosas had commerative t-shirts made up & handed them out to the participants. The t-shirts featured pix from last year including Cisco's awesome RZR. www.ivpressonline.com has an article about the ride & they have a video that shows part of the ride & an interview with Jenne & myself. I will be posting pix as soon as I figuire out how with our new camera.

Wow sound like you guys had a great turn out! I had to work so couldnt make it out. Thats awsome to have events like these to help raise money for a great cause!

It was a great ride, and a great time. Lots of people and fun, some good riding, and where else can you pull up to a gas pump in cali at a casino, fill up your rhino, and buy another 18 pack for the ice chest? I haven't found it yet. We had a blast, and it was for a great cause, I encourage all of you to try and make it out next year, if anything just to see what the BP does for us. They were out in full force Saturday, and made sure we were all protected. Can't wait to enjoy some more riding up in that area for the next month until I pull my trailer home.
