Why not use the arctic cat prowler 1000 for short course?

Hey guys I have a prowler 1000 and was wondering why I never hear of anyone running them in short course. I realize there are very few sold compared with the other machines but have you guys ever seen one at the track and what would the down falls be of starting off of this platform? I realize most of you will say the frame is weak or it is a POS or other things but i am not talking about racing a stock vehicle look at it just like a stock rhino that you would build into a race machine. My machine I have basically set up for dune racing but alot of the ideas are very similar and would not be that far off to modifie into a race machine. Let me know what you think?

I think you can race anything as long as you have the desire and the money to RACE!
Here's a pic of the 1000 @ Lake Elsinore racing!

First off welcome 2 UTVUG! Dude you smoked that RZR! You got a nice looking Cat!

Hey Danny-those were 1000cc Cat @ LE? I thought they were 800cc?

Lucas oil short course has an 800cc max displacement currently. Things may change
For 2011 though

Pretty sure the Die Cast Prowlers were 650 and 700cc, the 1000 hadn't been built yet when those were on the track.

Cat 1000, good question, but in most short course racing bodies, the 1000 Prowler isn't allowed. Arizona Short Course Championship Series allows it, but LOORS doesn't.

I'm waiting for them to open up short course racing to the 1000 also.... but in the meantime, I guess I'll have to stick with desert...

by the way, welcome to UTV Underground, glad to see you made it over from Prowlertalk....

Only one of diecasts cars were a 1000. The other one was a 650 I believe. I think artic cat sponsored them for a while. Along with bi polar racing. BITD allowed them to desert race but set a minimum weight for them. WORCS has been the only place I have seen a 1000 racing short course...

I am pretty sire I remember the DIe Cast guys telling both Daniel (OffRoadSwapMeet) and I that they had put AC 1000 motors in those cars? I could be wrong. Die Cast is a member here, maybe he can tell us what is being ran in those cars.....matter of fact I think he was trying to sell one here? I will look.

Only one was a 1000 while both were raced... One raced class 1 and one race class 3....

that makes more sense, I know the cars were around before the 1000 came out originally, but I think I recall something about them doing just that Joey (putting the 1000 in one).
