The third race of the 2010 VORRA series, this weekend May 28-31, 2010 in Yerington, NV, consists of multiple events surrounding the 300 mile desert race. “We are excited to work with the City of Yerington to put on this event. They welcome us every year and their hospitality makes for a great weekend of racing,†said Wes Harbor VORRA series promoter.
The Yerington 300 will be a challenging 50-mile loop course totaling 300 miles through the deserts just West of town. “This is a ‘Classic Yerington’ race,†said Harbor when commenting about the terrain consisting of stutter bumps, whoops, and plenty of fast smooth roads with spectacular views. Starting on Friday night, Casino West will be hosting the welcome party with the starting position lottery for pre-entered racers. All day Saturday spectators can mingle with racers and their vehicles at Casino West during registration and tech inspection, which will be followed by a “Parade of all Race Vehicles†down Main Street at 6:00pm.

He's gonna run that car in the Yerington 300? I haven't seen that car up close but what I did see of it, it didn't look Vorra legal....

It's (6) 50 mile laps. I was planning on heading up there and taking tons of photos and documenting the whole thing this year but issues came up and I'm unable now....

Car is totally VORRA legal. Should be BITD legal too.

The UTVs did 5 laps = 250 miles.

We pre-ran the 50 nile loop on Friday and made a few minor tweaks and pre-ran a bit more on Saturday. Car was running great.

Race day did not turn out too well for us. We started behind a RZR, three class 9's and a class 11. By mile ten we had passed them all and had clean air. I was running at a nice pace, but not pushing it at all. Power was awesome and suspension was working pretty good. We had just finished a decently fast section at about 60 MPH or so, and slowed a bit for a cattle guard. That is when the we lost power all of a sudden. After a quick diagnosis, we found that the CVT belt had broken. Even more bad luck was I forgot to bring a spare. We were out of the race at mile 18. Truly disappointing to work so hard and have everything going so well and lose with a rookie mistake.

Not so sure why the belt let loose. Figured it might have gotten hot on the high speed section, but I have pretty good airflow through the tunnel.

More pictures and info on my Teryx can be found here.

Thank for updating us Jon! Sorry about your troubles! Thanks for representing UTVUnderground on that awesome car!!!
