On August 17th the Vigor Motorsports John Deere XUV852i Gator competed at the Best in the Desert General Tire Vegas to Reno off road race, the fourth of the six race series. This event was a single day point to point race for all BITD classes contested on a 534 mile race course. In the grand tradition of the Vegas to Reno this was a truly challenging course, with great mix of all desert and mountain terrain. Driving duties in the Vigor Motorsports Racing John Deere XUV825i Gator were split between two teams. The race was started by driver Matt Krimple and co-driver Matt’s daughter Sarah Krimple. Diver Scott Martinez and co-driver Mike Mercurio brought the car home. Everything went well; the car ran flawlessly with no mechanical issues. The new suspension from Magnum Off Road worked incredible. The biggest problem was a loss of time while lost off course between check 3 and 4. This resulted in getting caught by the class 1400 and 1500 cars before pit 5 and subsequently slowing the pace for the rest of the day. The car finished in 10th place in the Pro UTV class out of over 20 cars. This finish leaves the 1911 car in seventh place in points for the season. Again, this event set a new record for Best in the Desert with 12 Pro UTV’s finishing the race. Just a few years ago simply finishing in this class would have meant a place on the podium. A finish percentage like this really punctuates how competitive this class has become, congratulations to all the finishers. Check out www.BITD.com for the official results and www.UTVUnderground.com for more details and pictures from the race.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, Magnum Off-Road, Fox Shoxs, Douglas Wheels, General Tire, PRP Seats, KC Hilites HID Lights, Team Clutch, Odyssey Battery, Competitive Metals and Racer X motorsports. Without your products and support, and the support of AA Equipment, AROS Trailer Supply, UTV Underground and Liquid Image this result would not have been possible. As we do at all of the races, the race car was on display at contingency to be viewed by all of the fans and spectators.

We are looking forward to the next race in the BITD UTV series, the BlueWater Desert Challenge. We will be on contingency row in Parker Arizona at the BlueWater Hotel & Casino, and as always out on the race course

In closing, let me extend a special thank you to Casey Folks, his staff and volunteers, at The Best in the Desert Racing Association for putting on a great race.

Thank you,

Scott Martinez
