UTVUnderground is BAJA BOUND! SCORE BAJA 500

They are still out there. 1800 is only 35 miles from the finish. 1803 the Kaw was stopped at RM145 for ever, but must have got going when I was sleeping. Now they are stopped on the Pacific side at around RM324. Doubt they will make the time limit...I think the finish line closes at 9:30 this morning. 1801 is at RM375...touch and go whether they will time out or not. The 500 is a tough race, because in desert racing it is half way between a sprint and a marathon (for UTV's it is obviously a marathon).

Back from Baja. I never did see a single UTV. AGM had a very tough race. The 103 car had a 16 minute lead when the transmission failed at RM325. We had a spare tranny at RM265 but we decided to just call it a race. The 123 car ran good but had some power steering issues late in the race. All in all it was a great trip.

I went down to help the MaterCraft Safety Racing effort in the # 30 , @20 and #42 Trophy trucks. Just like everybody we were doing great until! Lost a tranny in the 20 at RM185, Broke a lower a -arm on the 42 and ran out of fuel 10 miles from the finish in the 30. The chase truck I drove had issues the second half of the day and we were lucky we aren't still stranded out there.

The course was brutal and chasing was even worse. A major traffic jam at Ojos, because of the military check caused some teams to run out of fuel because the pit support or chase teams were stuck in the jam. Some were there for over two hours. That was worse then any so cal traffic jam I was ever in. Thank goodness our team had a secret weapon, a Federal Police escort!

The #8 TT or Norman and Roeseler, with Norman driving ran over some bike dude on Mikes road because the dust was so bad. Norman thought he was catching a truck but it was a bike and a quad. The bike guy ended up with a destroyed race bike and a broken leg. Lucky he isn't dead. The next guy getting plowed by a truck may not be so lucky.

Good to be home safe and sound.

Glad you made it back safe Reid!

We too were caught in the traffic Jam but we only were held up for about a 1/2 hr or so. Luckily we were in line with Robby Gordon's Freightliner Dakar Pit Rig and his father Bob Gordon in Robby's pre runner buggy...anywhere RG pr his team go you seem to get right through...LOL

We had an awesome first half of the race. Armin in the AGM 103 was FLYING and was running up with the top TT's by the driver change. He was the first physical class 1 by RM 30 i think....The car came to the driver change at RM 225 or so and looked like it had been to hell and back. Martin got in the car and started to put more time on the class 1 field untl a catosrophic transmission failure caused the car to DNF.....we were all so bummed.....

The 123 was also running in the top 3 both physical and on time after the mid way point but then power steering issues set in. After a couple of ditches and a ripped off break line the car had to be limped home where it finished 14th in class.

Rough day for AGM but we cant say enough about this team. Their generosity and professionalism is second to none!

Tons of pics and vids to come.....

Pics from RM90..we had a scheduled visual for the 103 and a splash for the 123....

Pics from RM 225..we were off the side of the highway by RG, Ashcraft, and McNeil/Fiberwerx.....this was the driver change section for both cars. Martin would climb into the 103 and Boris Said would pilot the 123 from here on out. The 103 pit stop was a little hectic as the car fell off he jack while changing the rear tires. The AGM on board hydrolic jacking system saved us and allowed the car to pick the rear driver side trailing arm up off the ground. We lost a few seconds, nothing major. The 103 came in first Class 1 physical and on time and left in the same postion....this was the last any of us would see the car running...the 123 stop would be smoother, they came in and and got out quickly...

RG was the second TT to arrive at the pit area. He was just behind Jesse Jones. RG came in, fueled up (wasnt sure if he got tires or not) got out quickly and then about 10 minutes later and another 5 to 6 TT's later he returned and looked to be swapping out a tranny and driveshaft. He was down for quite a while.....

From the driver change we headed back up past Ojos to RM400 at the meadow where the locals were partying it up! We were all set for a visual for both cars but this is also where we got news about the tranny issues. Bryan Lyttle and others hung out at the meadows waiting for Petey and Boris Said to make it in...it was a long night here at the meadow, I am just glad I didnt have to see the sun come up here again...lol....hope you all enjoy the pics...

bummer...the Afradium UTV guys had their chase truck lifted in Ensenada...

Baja 500 Chase Truck Stolen
Had a White Ford F-350 Crew Cab long bed with black trailer stolen from a payed parking lot in Ensenada near the start line. The truck has a large gold two tone stripe down the sides and new BFG 35in AT tires. Please pass the word to any crews down here and keep and open eye. Post if you have any info. Thanks.

wow ... that sucks.... do ya think trucks that get stolen down there end up here and sold for parts? Seriously though... I hope they find it. Its not like nascar where some huge corporate race team is out some change...

Pit Stop #1 for the 123 Chevy powered Class 1 car of AGM...this was a splash and go with an oil check.....

This video is at RM 225 where our driver changes were. This vid gives you an idea of the pre pit set up and also gives a sense of what its like mid race...Watch for Robby Gordon t show up, his dad fly's by in his pre runner buggy, the helicopter rolls in, and then RG takes off on the highway...pretty intense stuff for us as we prepare to fuel the cars, change the tires, and switch driver/co-drivers....

Whew, finally home! Great to see ya again Joey and finally got to meet Rusty...bummer for the #103 car, broke about 20 miles away from our pit. Funny thing was our #123 car blew by our pit, but we ended up changing a tire for Jesse Jones and fixing a radiator hose on the #23 McMillin TT...AGM is a full service pit crew!

Anyone know what happend to #1803 crew member...hear he got hit by someone and was going into shock somewhere around RM75????

I got video, but need time to post...didn't see any UTV's during the race :(
