Official UTVUnderground 2016 Baja 1000 Update Thread

Not all of them... the green car of Romero started in the middle.. then Romano and Creed started even after the VW's

I heard this was a "stunt to get the announcer to talk about them for a longer period of time as they wanted them to start all together"

now this is a RUMOR that was TEXTED to me from someone who was there.

Rusty was right there, he probably knows more than anyone what the deal was.

Romano started behind 599 and Creed started behin Romano... in front of 579

Just got word from Joey that Kristen and Millen are inside the top 6 at RM119. Not bad for some NA RZR's.

So am I correct to say Millen started 22nd because he was 2nd in class but started behind 20 Pro Turbo teams? He is currently physically 4th so if so, pretty amazing

Nope. Had to rewire amber lights

I know this was reported as a non factory supported effort ( im not buying this ) but regardless. This whole Arctic Cat utv race effort was pure Marketing 101 genuis. No matter how they finish everyone is talking about the new car.

Announcer stated "You can almost purchase this unit right off the showroom floor, take it and go race it."... then he stated "These are racing the UNLIMITED class." So there might be some confusion here on factory/nonfactory - Maybe RG will be releasing a SPEED Branded UTV...?

I don't have any inside info. I am state side for this race. I am just doing relay for our media crew.

Championship hopes for Marc are slimming down quite a bit. He's currently in 18th position, and still not moving at RM 81 with over 2 1/2 hours down time. Assuming he finishes the race in his current position, Cafro could steal the points title by finishing 5th or better. He's currently running in 3rd place, 21 miles off of the lead car of Matlock. It's going to be tight if Marc can even make up enough ground not to get clocked out later in the event. It is very likely that Cafro only needs to cross the finishing line in the allotted time to win the title. From what I understand, Marc bent the rear of the car up pretty bad. Evidently, over 2 1/2 hours bad. If Cafros "spotters" are on the ball, they'd be strategizing their efforts based on the current status of his competitors, for it is now Cafros championship to win.

So Reid do you know Marc's UTV racing future? Stay with no support, Go to a new / old manufacture, or go back to racing trucks?

BTW how are you doing? Still in Jamul somewhere?

Wayne Matlock still leading at RM 263
