Baja 1000: Best Buggy we ever had

AGM1.jpg

Flat out for AGM: Andy Aigner, Armin Kremer, Martin Christensen and I (l-r)

Dear Friends, Partners and Sponsors,

Last Monday we concluded our tests here in the desert of the Baja California. I am totally happy with the outcome, and I can sum it up this way: I’ll tackle the 42nd Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 on Friday with the best Buggy that I ever sat in.

AGM2.jpg

For the Baja 1000 we're out with two pre-runners

The testing conditions were perfect: With ambient temperatures reaching 34 degrees Celsius we chose very, very rough terrain to run the final tests with the new hydraulic clutch that Martin Christensen had developed inhouse at AGM. Over those 500 gruelling kilometres the clutch functioned perfectly and smoothly, damping the impact on the transmission just the way we had always dreamt of.

The new suspension set-up that we had found with Eibach and Bilstein turned out to be just as perfect. So my assumption is that we will be able to go maybe 15 percent faster without running a higher risk on the technical side.

And here we go! This time it's 670 tough miles, fighting for the win and championship

On Friday from 10:30 in the morning the starter will send the first cars on their 670 mile journey through the desert. We are not only going for the Class 1 Unlimited class win, but for the title. At present we rank second, but the first three have good chances to clinch the championship. So in this three-way fight the motto can only be to go really fast – and be really clever.

Keep your fingers crossed!
Best wishes, Armin

Some RG pre run action from the 500

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Cs5k-lgvow&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - 2009 Baja 500 Pre run with Robby Gordon Motorsports[/ame]

SO I spoke with Mike Lasher who is with Reid Nordin akak Team Green and the entire DrahonFire Race Team.

The pre run went really good.

They did lose 2 motos in Nessy but thank god they were prepared. They got the 3rd motor in and think they have nailed down the issue which could have been a bad internal part.

They have logged over a 1000 miles on the pre run thus far. They will run the start/finish this morning. Lasher has informed me that the Ensenada Wash/Canal is now almost all concrete which should make for some interesting video and some crazy speeds!

Both the ITP car dubbed Nessy 2 and Nessy 1 are through Tech and ready to rock.

Acording to Lasher the highlight of the pre run was blasting by team mate and co driver Larry Roeseler who was pre running in his truck....they actually PASSED him at race speeds!! I guess it was a real blast.

Today is Contingency which is being brodacasted via Tracking International, the links are above. Tommorow is race day so get those IRC's up and follow the race!!

I will try and keep the updates coming as I get them!

1803 is already moved into first place...the 1819 Crowley vehicle looks to still be at Estero Beach and Did not start...could be an IRC malfunction?

UTV's have almost all passed the Jeep Speed class and are now moving into Check Point 6. We have the 1803 of DFR Team Green Reid Nordin leading the way and then the 1818 of Peter Hajas int he ITP / DFR Nessy 2 in second, 1801 Dave Roberts in 3rd, and 1802 of Thomas Graves in the Alba Yamaha Rhino in 4th!!!

In the class 1 race our boy Armin Schwarz of AGM is out in front making great time!!

Reid Nordin just got passed back by Jeepspeed 1749 and is sitting still. Hope this is just a pit stop on not breakage....
