Mint 400 UTV qualifying

With all of the UTV's that are going to be at the Mint this year (most likely 60 plus) from what everyone has been saying. We will probably be the largest class in the event. With that many UTV's racing we should have qualifying, not only so someone that can run a winning pace doesn't get stuck in the back and reduce there chance of a win. But it will also be safer as the faster cars are not taking chances passing the slower cars in the dust endangering both parties.
What do you guys think about this, I am a new guy in the class but not to racing. I don't want make waves but if we all voice our opinion to Casey with this many numbers our voice will be heard.

I believe at some point this is going to have to happen. The more the class grows the harder it is going to be to win if you pill draw dead last. Especially on the 250 errrr, 160 mile races.

I agree Jim, with the amount of UTV's growing at theses events, it's time for some changes that will better the events for the class. The movement of the race this weekend to the 2nd race is a positive step.

Definately! If we need to get there a day earlier it will give us a great opportunity to play a round of golf or two!

I'm meeting with Casey and the Martellis today here in Vegas. I would not expect qualifying but what we are going to ask is that the finishing order for say the top 10-20 at the UTV World Championship would also be your start position for the mint. So that makes the UTVWC like a mint qualifier. Everyone outside of the top 10-20 would have their names drawn for position.

Mint course will not be completely different I don't think. But it should have a new start finish area, be longer laps and have some added features.

This may sound dumb but this would produce amazing racing is to start the points leaders in the back of the pack. It kinda sucks but could you imagine the crazy racing that would take place!

Hi joeyd did you notice how bad trash was at Henderson before you arrived there. There was crap everywhere you would of thought after the mint 400 crap it would of been cleaned before we arrived.

Another thing that would work possibly is too not allow people to draw if they missed the previous race. That will keep it so that racers racing for a championship dont end up with a 40th or 50th start position. That will help in the races where you only have so many miles to get to the front.

I personally think that's a horrible idea. Especially if you want to attract new racers. qualifying is a pretty simple solution and it gets the fastest guys up front. Unless you're a fast guy that had problems qualifying.

Confirmed. Live coverage from the UTVUnderground.com / BITD Meeting... Top 20 finish order at UTVWC is the first 20 starting order for The Mint 400

Qualifying is a simple solution but a very expensive option. How high you want your entry fees to go?

Joey, you have a good point, but my car will not be finished until the Mint. Qualifying did not seem like it would add too much cost as we can do it on the same course as the trophy trucks. I have no idea how it works for BITD but I'm assuming once you have the land the insurance it does not matter if you add in the UTV's. But I could be wrong.
