Dirt has been in the mix for Brian Harris of Master Fabrication as a youth growing up in southern California. As a teenager Brian started building sprint cars where he first got a taste of fabricating off road vehicles and what it takes to build quality parts. Brian grew up in Carson, Ca. where he had a strong intuition that the off road industry was where he was meant to be. In the mid 1990s Brian started fabricating sand rails for the late Suspension Unlimited where he perfected his quality of fabrication and customer service. Brian quickly moved up in the company eventually becoming the Assembly Manager overseeing the builds and ensuring quality and safety were always met.
Before Suspension Unlimited came to a close Brian left and entered the realm as a Military contractor building “Light strike vehicles” which are militarized Polaris RZR’s. After 8 years of dedication Brian became unfulfilled by lack of creativity he was able to put into his work. In 2005 Brian went on his own and Master Fabrication was born. Brian chose to stay close to his roots and open up shop in Carson, California. offering a one stop shop for all UTV enthusiasts. From full blown desert race kits to ordering wheels for your Polaris RZR Master Fabrication does it all. Head fabricator Manny moved from Arizona to California to work for Brian. Manny and Brian have a one of a kind relationship in building and pushing the creative boundaries in the industry. With Brian’s experience of building and managing vehicle manufactoring there is a level of quality that has to be achieved, quality is never compromised. Master Fabrication has started offering WORCS series short course kits that would enable to average enthusiast to bolt everything they need to be legal and competitive in the series and go race. Offering kits like this along with their Desert Race Kit help the sport grow and assist people trying to get into racing. Everything in the kit from the roll cage to nerf bars is CAD designed and CNC bent to ensure quality and consistency.
Master Fabrications newest desert build was tailored to compete in the upcoming Baja Rally race which is a 5 day covering 600+ miles which is open to motorcycles and UTV’s. The 2016 Polaris RZR Turbo has been equipped with Master Fabrication desert kit which includes roll cage, sway bar gussets, spare tire carrier and front and rear bumpers. For suspension Brian is using the Cognito long travel kit with Fox race shocks that have been revolved for the expected terrain they will face in Mexico. Brian opted for the reliable Method Race Wheels and 32” Tensor tire set up to get him through the 600 miles of baja.
The interior of the RZR has color matched and stitched Beard Race seats and a PCI 4 Link intercom system. For navigation Brian has multiple GPS units in the RZR along with a mandatory F2R Rally Roll Chart which is his main tool for navigating through the desert. Once night falls the Baja Designs LED Light bars illuminate the surroundings.
The RZR will be piloted by no other than 11 time Baja champion Steve Hengeveld. Racing rally in comparison to your conventional style desert race is quite different in terms of strategy. In rally it is more of a thinkings man game when following your roll chart and hitting your way points. Manny the head fabricator for Master Fabrication will be co-piloting with the baja veteran. Master Fabrication offers rental programs and race preparation to customers ranging from LOORS to the Best in the Desert series. The Master Fabrication short course build is one of their most popular build kits. The Master Fabrication short course Polaris RZR is fitted with the Master Fabrication roll cage, bed delete kit, dash, window nets, radiator relocation kit, front and rear bumpers and nerf bars.
Cognito was the chosen for the stock geometry suspension with Walker Evans 2.5 Velocity series coilovers. The engine build was completed by Sparks Racing with their X-6 stainless steel exhaust system and tune. Brian hopes to be competitive in the WORCS series with the RZR this coming 2018 season.
Whether short course racing or rally racing Master Fabrication can assist you with what you need to be competitive and safe without sacrificing creativeness and cleanliness. Both Master Fabrication builds have a clean aesthetic with the proper parts to drive it how it was meant to be driven.
