King Of the Hammers open invitation

Hey TG, If we don't make our annual nov moab trip then I might try and roll out there. One day of riding or two?

Like I rusty I wont be able to make it...I will be heading to Baja afterall! You boys have fun, let us know how it all goes! Thanks a ton Ried for going out of your way to do this!!!

I'll be going out on Friday and staying all weekend. That will give any "one dayers" a chance to come out and play. Moab sounds cool too but this is a much closer location.

I'll be flying my Monster Energy Kawasaki flag on my F350 (or Teryx) so you'll know where to find me.

Don't miss the chance to put in your 2 cents for the 2011 KOH UTV course!

Thanks Reid, Moab is looking grim and I need to get away from the house for awhile. I'll try and get out there for sat for sure. I'll hit ya on the two way on my way in.

Looking forward to meeting some new people and getting a better idea about how far we can push the sidexside course. Headed out Friday some time with family in tow. Gonna be pretty cool to sit around a fire and enjoy a desert trip.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it. I'm going to race at the last ECORS race. I wish I could be there, though.

As mentioned earlier, being from Oregon presents even more challenges to get there and play for the weekend. It would be very cool to have a photo thread of the terrain you are thinking about for the race.:D

I'll see what I can do regarding photos. The terrain in Johnson valley changes from area to area and the trails range from very easy to impossible.

The hard part is finding the balancing point for the course as we like to try and use as much of the KOH course as feasable. Looking forward to this weekend. I don't think the UTVs can run Clawhammer, but it is one of the easist trails of the Hammers, and will make a good test.

Gary,

Even if we have trouble with providing photos for this trip there is countless video clips and photos that can be viewed on many 4X4 forums of the KOH trails and surrounding area. If our resident photog's, Joey D and Fatography weren't going to Mexico to work on that BMW we would have some good stuff for sure.

We'll let you skip out on this one but don't miss the race!

Were all in for the race for sure, got things ripped apart to get ready as we speak. I will check out some of the 4x forums. Thanks and be safe. ;)

Have fun you guys. I am bummed to miss this trip. Thanks again for doing this Reid! You're the MAN!

Just got back from Johnson Valley and we had a great time. I would like to thank those that came out and followed us around the desert while we worked on the next KOH course options with Jeff Knoll.
Brian and Nolan from Long Travel
Mike Lasher
Casey Currie
Dean in his bobbed Teryx
Jeff's wife and son ( who both want SXS's now)

Jeff really wants this to work out for the UTV community and after this weekend I think he got some great first hand experience on what a UTV is all about. We even had a few of his trail crew follow us in some real trail used 4X4 metal and I think even they were real surprised at what a stock UTV will do.

I drove a basically stock rig, motor and all up and down everything we pointed it at. I think this years event is going to shape up to be the best ever! Now it is time for you all to get off your hands and enter this true challenge of a race.

I think Mike and Jeff both have some photo's and maybe even a video if we're lucky. I can't wait for February now cause Hammer Town and the KOH is going to go off!

If you have questions or even if you want some advice I will be more then happy to help point you in a direction that will make your experience better if I can.

I think I'll work on one more trip out there either in December or early January if anyone wants to go back or get some first hand knowledge of the area and it's trails!

For those that think that this event will hurt their precious SXS I wouldn't worry too much about that unless you choose a real bad line. I've seen some of the damage you all have done to your cars in some of these Mud GP events and I can tell you that any mud event will destroy your car about 100 times faster then the rocks will.

Don't be afraid!

here are some some pics i took from my phone. i also have a few videos i uploaded on youtube but i am having trouble posting them on here. i tried copying and pasting the embed but it doesn't seem to work. if anyone wants to give it a try, the link to the videos is

Jeff will probably chime in here soon but he told me the entry form was ready but hadn't been posted yet.

The video's that Nolan posted are all from a new trail that was added to the KOH last year called Elvis. It is a short downhill section that has several lines but is pretty UTV friendly. The first green Teryx has the new dragonfire + 4 suspension but the ride height is a little low. Casey's car has +6 Dragonfire and Dean's Teryx (Red) has Funco +4 just for reference.

We had fun I brought the girlfriends car so I couldn't beat it up too bad, She has only taken it out once and it has 3000 worth of paint on it I will say that I was even empressed with what a SXS with a just a LT kit will do in the rocks. I had no intentions of going and or participating in the KOH but after this trip I will be going for sure
