Yamaha Clutch filled with water

Last weekend while driving in the snow we came a cross a creek on the way up a trail. Crossed it no problem it was about two feet deep at that time and we continued up the trail. About an hour later on our way back down the trail I was the first to cross. The water level had risen about a foot and when I went to cross I got stuck for about ten minutes. Pulling me out took the jeep I was with a few tries since I was a foot below the water and ther was a foot of snow on the banks of the creek. So we get it out and I try to move it under it's own power but I don't go anywhere. I know no water got into the exhaust or the intake so I took out the drain plug on the cvt cover and let it drain for about five minutes and then sit for about ten minutes then we left and finished our ride.

Did I do any damage to my clutch while it was submerged? Is there any maintenance I should do since it was in water?

If it was me I would pull the clutch and clean out the old grease, clean it up real good and then add new grease. This should be done once a season any way IMO. Good Luck.

Well if your clutch got wet that isn't a huge deal....look at the mudder guys..the wet clutch is sealed to the motor. The Sheave however would need to be fully serviced IMO. You would want to pull the sheave a part and clean all the grease out and replace.

My concern for you would be if you sucked water in the intake like you said? If thats the case you could have some other issues that would need to be addressed......

Definitely no water in the intake. The water was a good foot away from the intake I was more worried about it getting through my exhaust lol

I should look at the sheave. Anything else that comes to mind? What about my cvs? Should I re grease those also?
