BITD weight and teardown

I have called Kroyer. The program is; you give them your rzr 900 engine and $10.000, they give you a 986cc (this allows for 1 rebore to a 998cc before having to by new cylinders, you can request the 998cc) The engine package does include all the things Matt metioned. The rzr 900 engine can be built above 1000cc by stroking and boring.
Yes I am building a new Can-Am Maverick race UTV. When I built my Commander my goal was to build it a lite as possible ( it weights 1750lbs) and my goal for the Maverick is the same. Knowing the weight of other UTVs does not give any racer an advantage over another.
For the record I race with a all stock Can-Am engine and clutch pulleys.
When I am teching the UTVs I am checking for safety and class compliance. This does not give me a adavntage. Any UTV competitor can examain any of the race UTVs as they are pushed through contingency or sitting on the trailer in the parking lot or at the finish line etc....
I have been teching UTVs for 8 years if If teching UTVs gives me an advantage than I should be winning all the races by now.

From what I can see here... I think the minimum weight should be 2129 determined by the fat cow I drive...just say'n

If you talking about RJ's WORC's engine, then yes it is the same as what we run. RJ actually raced a hot rod 875cc for the first half of the WORCS season then went with the stroker motor from KRE. And yes it is under $10k. But if you are talking about his LOORRS Unlimited UTV RZR XP then no, it is not the same. The Lucas KRE engine ran a Motec ECU (appx $6k), and made a stupid amount of horsepower. But the Lucas Kroyer engines is certainly not a desert engine.

If you are not familiar with Kroyer, he just got named SCORE's engine builder of the year for the third year in a row. Won the TT championship and Class 1 championship. Engine builder for Andy McMillan, Rob Mac, BJ Baldwin, etc...etc. He sponsors nobody and I mean NOBODY, including the guys above. But he is the best.

Back on topic: believe it or not, but the Bobsled weighed 1460 lbs (2 gallons of fuel, no tools). The old rule of thumb is 10lbs = 1 hp. The Bobsled made 72 hp. So with simple math, a 1900 lb UTV would have to make 112 hp to perform at same level as my old 800. So light matters in terms of performance. But then there is that pesky old reliability thing....ha! :)
 
there where only a couple of cars that were weighed that wasn't there for everyone to see. I looked when I was in the general area...as did most everyone else. Our Commander was the big fat pig of the group at over 2100 lbs..(but with a full tank, 2 15" spares, tools etc..) Krigers was just over 1600 as previously stated, (a lot less weight and a whole lot more hp) seemed most I saw were in the mid 1800-1900 range. We are aiming for the 1600 range for our Maverick build... The general conscientious is that's doable if we are fastidious about weight and still be legal and more importantly safe.
:p The Purple came in at 1558. Svelt little car, eah?

So looking forward to the Maverick build.
 
I say we weigh all the drivers. Then even the field by adding the neccessay weight to the lighter drivers cars, to make everyone the same.

Co-Drivers are usually in much better shape, so there is no need to weigh them.

ROTFLMAO!! I don't know about the weight of some of the co-drivers...but I swear we've seen a sumo in there.

That Heybeerman codriver guy is lean and fit, I can attest.

As for the Sumo guy were working on him to be less sumo more Jason Statham like...lol. He still may need the diaper though...:D

Well seems to be a heated topic. the one im building everyone says it looks like a tank, but after seeing what others weigh. hmmmmmmm looks like my build is a tad under the average.
