BAJA 500 thread

Me? You wanted to open a dialog with me? Then you should have asked! BTW...when I was at the IV250 I asked MB where you were. AWOL?

I have total respect for the Murray's and they are always a threat. They will be there as will some others such as Matlock, Simms, Cory, and Fag-nito (if they get the sand out of their vagina and show :D).

I think we have our 'new car blues' mostly behind us and we should be ready to rumble.

Reid...just like you don't 'bet' with your own money, I don't either. I will let others deal with that. I don't take any satisfaction from winning a bet...just from WINNING! :)

Viva Baja!

PS Joey is doing the section from RM 446 to 612.

No sand in our Va-jay-jay, our biggest hurdle was how to race with out a chase truck. Our program isnt old enough to have more than one chase rig.anyhow cognito will be present to keep the hamhawkers honest. Even though were not fortunate enough to come pre run we will not be there to be a "back setter" believe that.

C'mon Jim, give us a nerf. You know you guys owe us one!

Hey, are you guys going to be able to make it on 2 stops? I'm putting in a new gas tank just to make it on 4 stops! (5, if you count tacos at Valley T:D)

To be honest our car is still new enough that I wont bet on fuel stops yet. I'm guessin it will b 4 stops.

For those that don't know Wayne Matlock, he is a big-time Baja quad champ and seriously fast! I am sure he will make the transition from handlebars to a steering wheel with ease. Think William Yokley and Beau Baron.

The UTV class just keeps growing with talent, better teams and better Utes![/QUOTE]

Thanks Matt, I pre ran this past weekend and I have to say it's probably one of the funnest Baja 500 courses ever. The section from 180 to Valley T is epic. On day one we pre ran from RM 180 down to San Felipe. The beer was Cold at Mikes and the tacos in Valley T were better then ever. The course down to the bottom of the lake bed is wide open, you can even take a nap it's so strait and flat. At the bottom it turns back north and back to a fun trail with allot of VCP's. I got lost in this section about four times on my dirt bike. The course markings and VCP markings were missing in this section. The VCP's are very erratically placed with no rime or reason on the east side of the lake bed. I's sure SCORE has it's reasons but they are hard to find on a dirt bike with a hand held GPS.
The course from Valley T to Ojos is the same as in years past but be careful, I came a crossed LOT'S of cows and horses on the course. They have a bad habit of coming out of the bushes right in front of you, had several close calls with the live stock.
Had a great time and can't wait for the race.

The out bound course in some sections is about 20' from the inbound course. I think they might try and fix that. Other than that is't the same old rain rutted and rock fire roads all the way to the highway.

10-4 and thanks. Last year the silt in that section was deep.

It's always bad in there. It's going to be real bad from Milling Ranch to EL Coyote. We did it the first day it was open and it was already deep in several spots with allot of off camber turns and hills.
