Baja 1000 class 1900

its clear that there were "shortcuts" taken by some teams. i know thats the purpose of pre-running. folks try to find easier roads to take, shortcuts thru washes, trying to find a shorter or quicker route. trackers werent great throughout the race but i took a screen shot of two teams at the beginning within the first 150 miles. teams that were off course apparently, clearly, taking an easier line on an open road instead of down the top of the ridge where the course was marked. i wont point any fingers, but if a VCP was set up on course, and a team just happened to make a shortcut around that section, then it would easily lead to a VCP penalty. or at least thats how i would think one would end up with such a penalty.

I wish I could tell you that you are correct Adam, but that was an either or line choice given by SCORE.....

i am not saying you guys did anything wrong. this could have easily been a blocked route and course change. obviously you guys running the course know much better than me what was going on down there. but i know from talking to teams that race down there, every line you can find to help make up ground, is an advantage to you. so its a normal thing to do. neither of those two above were yours, one didnt finish and the other was not in the top 5. regardless of how they ran the course it doesnt change the outcome of the race.

No I understand. I went left. Scheuler went right. Right was significantly longer but smoother. Left was ROUGH and ROCKY. I had chased Brandon for a while to that point and I pushed hard thru the rock to try and pass him. BOTH lines were on the GPS file with EITHER/OR option. I preran both lines twice and determined if I needed to make a pass, I needed to go left.
