2017 Baja 500 (Official Thread)

Any update on the UTV running order?

Worst cellular coverage ever down here. Not sure how you can have great service one year and the next is junk.

Early on in was Burnett and Lambert way out front with over 20min lead on rest of pack. That was through RM 80.

On the move hopefully will have more updates.

Thanks Joey. Roger's SCORE 'non-tracking' is....NOT TRACKING for those of us stuck at home. Any info that you get will be WAY more than what we have stateside. Again...big thanks for the info.

If you put a little trust in the tracker, it currently shows 2918 in front just past RM 218, with 2913 just passed RM 205 in 2nd. Then 2977, 2990 10 miles back, then 2968, 2936, 2917 3 miles more back. It shows Marc just past RM 175, followed closely by 2946.

Based on the tracker, the lead turbo of Lambert has averaged 33.5 up to this point (215 miles in 6.5 hours). Sounds slow by 5 mph or so. Is the course that rough?

reid your the man!!! Thanks for the link, best I can tell is it reflects our current position.

So, is your position as shown on the tracker accurate? Bet it feels good to be back in the "spank" mode again .
I'll leave it at that. Don't want to whammy you guys!

Reid I was down there the week before prerunning opened. I ran from Ojos to Urapan and I said then, there are sections that the UTV will be faster then a TT. There were some slow narrow rocky sections. I could see a down hill log jamb happening! The coast from Santo Tomas down IMO was better then I was told it would be. A few good gotcha's but nothing shocking. It will be fast!

Then we continued to head south to San Quintin , so I don't know about the new section up to El Coyote or Mikes, but was told it was rough.

The only other part of course I ran was when I jumped back on at the Goat Trail, that new section was pretty rough, and still pretty wet as it just rained earlier that week. We then jumped off the course back up to Laguna Hanson to the Compadre Trail to Tecate.

Playing is so much more fun then racing! And way cheaper too!
