Ya I saw those pads also, very curious. I zoomed way in and looks like they have cords running to them, I'm thinkin solar panels.

Anyone have a clue what those two square pads are that are on the rook of the 1802 Artic Cat?

Thats Kevin and Richard Fuller (Son and Father) from West Linn Ore...(they are really 1801 not 1802) and I spoke to them before the race...they don't put out enough amps to power there lights at night...they literally have to turn off their radios, fans etc.. to run lights..so they were working on different solutions... dont see how solar chargers would help..but what do I know...they literally had to swap out batteries during the 1000 last year to keep going.. they finished but timed out. They just race SCORE...
