“BLACK RHINO/RACERX MOTORSPORTS’ DRIVERS PODIUM IN ROUND 2 of WORCS IN PRIMM, NVâ€

02/19/13 El Cajon, CA – Round 2 of WORCS at Buffalo Bill’s Resort in Primm, NV February 8-10 brought podium finishes for Cody Rahders and Jacob Shaw.

Jacob Shaw #191

Jacob Shaw in the #191 finished the event with a 2nd place in the Production 1000 Class. He sits 5th in Points.

Cody Rahders #816

Cody Rahders took second place at round two of WORCS in the Production 700 class and finished second overall out of the 23 entries in Production 850/700/600/Sportsman classes combined.

With all the classes lined up Cody started in row three and rounded the first turn in third place. Within the first mile he moved into second and by the beginning of lap two he moved into first. From there he went to work on the 13 vehicles in the 850 class.

As Cody came through for the start of lap four he was on top of the third place car in Production 850 with second place of Production 700 right behind the both of them.

“Most of the desert section is really one lined. I had to jump out of the race line to pass some slower guys but that 3rd place car blocked me every time I tried to pass, even when I went off line! He drove the entire lap in his mirror so I decided were putting a great big bumper on the new car and show’em how Robby (Gordon) does it when they won’t move over… (Laughter)â€

The three cars entered the infield section of the course, Cody moved left to pass the 850 class car and the 850 car cut over on him hard enough that Cody had to get on the brakes and both were passed by the second place 700 class car. Once Cody passed the third place 850 class car he would eventually pass both the second and first place in Production 850 but the damage was done and he finished second place in class and overall.

“Our race engine was ruined from all the water that went through it at Round 1 so we decided since there was a chance of rain at Round 2 we didn't want to risk it with our new RZR570 so we would put the red cars engine back to stock and ran it one more race. I drove it wide open nearly 100% of the race, it’s been a great car but we’ll have the new car out for Round 3 at Havasu, I can’t wait!â€

Cody Rahders and R3motorsports would like to thank the following for their help.

Polaris Industries, Superchips, Team Alba Racing, Cognito Motorsports, K&N, Fox Racing Shox, the UTVunderground.com, ITP Tires, K1 Race Gear, Black Rhino, RacerX Motorsports, American Star Racing, SFI Designs, Frosty Burger Pine Valley.

Michael Gonzalez #626

We started the race with Michael getting the holeshot into turn one and two. After a friendly shove off the course, we were now in third. A little bit later a spinout had us down to fifth. Michael put the wood to it, and passed everyone who got ahead of him earlier. We were holding on to second when things started going sideways. First, a check engine warning light came on; our temp was still at 190 so we decided to slow down a little and try and figure out what was going on. We lost two spots. Warning light went out and Michael went after it.

We were in fourth place and gaining when Michael went into a left turn hard and something broke landing him on his side. Luckily some spectators nearby ran over and put him back on his way. Michael called on the radio that something broke and the car was hard to steer. Never willing to give up Michael limped the car into the pits and that’s when we saw the rear stabilizing bar had broken and was dragging behind the car. After a quick check that nothing else was broken, Michael went out to finish the race. We managed to finish 7th but more importantly, we are still 2nd in points for the season.

Speedy Gonzales Racing could not be out here doing this without great people who have our back.

Kenny from Black Rhino, Michael from Racer X Motorsports, Nate from Alba Racing, Ed Niemela, the Suspension Guy, Joey D. from UTV Underground, Ernie the Attorney, Anthony from Triumph Motorsports, Fellow team member Greg Row, and Aimee Hazelton for coming out and hanging out with us this past weekend.

Greg Row

Greg Row driving the #7 finished 15th and sits 8th in points in the Pro Production Class.
