All UTV's Who'll release what next year?? - 2013 (Mostly SXS racer)

SXS Machine

Importer, wholesaler,
I always like to poll what people think is going to happen in the industry. If there is already a thread somewhere or a more valid spot I'm still navigating the site so please say so.

Important happenings is that the last of the appeals against the decision that was in Yamaha's favor have been dismissed and Yamaha has been found guiltless. (I think that was the news was it accurate??)

Japanese are a very conservative lot and didn't do many new models while Yamaha was in court, K4 this year and Honda brought out a UTV. Everything else was just upgrades.

Now Yamaha is out of court I'm expecting a flood of new vehicles.

Honda - has a single seated?? racer in development, something aimed at Dakar I believe.

Kawasaki - Has their new motor and transmission in the K4 for real world testing this year while they possibly may have had to go back to the drawing board on chassis having been guzzumped by Arctic Cat and maybe Polaris as well.

Yamaha - Have they been working at all while in court? and if they came out now with a machine they are the only Japanese manufacturer who havent had a racey V-twin and just like the old superbike series I believe V-twin will be the winnig combination. They do have the under stressed TeDiuM (I have always liked them actually) 900 motor and that could be geared up with its 270 degree fake twin crank. So will Yamaha have both a new Ute and a New SXS for Next year?? I have to say I think so.

Suzuki - Calling Suzuki?? No answer yet I think. Pity SV1000 wasted.

KTM - may be a surprise entrant because they have the ultimate in V-twin motors. Just heard them mentioned in a conversation, no more than that.

Can Am - Will we get a racer? They haven't neccessarily been inclined to go down that path even with ATV's with much conviction. May not have the R&D dollars to do so but have a great motor to build on so just need a chassis and they have pretty good baseline to build off. Thats one of the reasons I think they may not go a further racer config, it can currently work as is with Mods.

Polaris - While not neccessarily an inventor they have been an innovator to get SXS's running. But will they have run out of model releases and payback to get race winners out there. With say two major competitors out there now one can equal them in some instances and the Arctic Cat suspension is better in theory and testing but now comes the test of time. I think Polaris may develop an in house after market Racer conversion kit or a 500 run ltd edition super SXS model to try and match the handling of the AC and level that playing field.

Arctic Cat - I'm going to call them a sit for a while, maybe they have a 4 seater up their sleave, heard nothing.

Don't know if anyone else will come up to speed.

Just a rumour mill post, if you havent heard anything what would you like to see from a particular manufacturer. Go nuts! :D:D

would love to see Yamaha come with something that is "race ready" maybe a beefed up rhino with an R1 motor from the factory.

We are all waiting on Yamaha... As for the others.. Well, I will just have to keep my mouth shut for now!! lol But you will all be the first to know, as usual!!!

Go like hot stink but aren't the R1's already over, what I think will be the manufacturer self imposed limit for a while, of 100HP?

Yamaha love to compete so I think they'll have a lash with something, just depends if they are ready.

I would like to think they are all burning the midnight oil on trick, new, affordable machines that will have us all wondering if our 4 year old UTV's are even worth the price of the suspension kit we installed.
I am sure there will be a couple of cool ones, but with the prices creeping into the 20kish range for the trick rigs, they better be bringing their own financing, too.
Many of the people who want to upgrade are either unwilling to tie up the cash or don't have the cash and no one will loan them the bucks without collateral like a first born child.
This economy ain't exactly on fire, ya know?
Read the other day that the Americans are now driving vehicles that average 11 years old. That is up 5 years from 2008.
I suspect there are some serious reality checks going on out there, and if/when there is disposable income available, some of those 200k plus cars the wives are driving are gonna get replaced before a new UTV gets put in the shop.
Not trying to be a downer and hope I am wrong, but i suspect the manufacturers can see it too.

With the sniveling out of the way, my gut tells em that when Yamaha jumps it'll be big, and that Kawasaki isn't going to sit on there hands much longer either. Team Green has never liked running less than the fast stuff, and they have had some time to get the T-4 out there, and I betcha some green go fast ain't far away.

well if someone is gonna come out with something new i hope they do it soon.I droped money on a bbkit for my s and about month later they came out with the xp. I would have never droped that money if I knew the xp was coming. Now I have been saving thinking about apex swap but now I a thinking of buying a xp. Not sure what to do but will be buying something new by beginning of march. to many choices and not enough money

XPs are dominating racing with two first place finishes at Dakar and 42nd over all!:D If racing is your bag XP all the way the motor can tweak 150hp with some mods without a turbo! HP is the next thing these companies will go for, just like Jet Skis!

150 hp out of a XP without a turbo? Do tell!

you can get quite a bit out of these motors with a BB kit. I can't put an exact number on it but the majority of the stage 2 kits are over 100 hp

I agree that there is a ton of potential in the XP 900 motor, but the most I have seen out of a normally asperated one is around 130 hp. There was mention of 150 hp, and I just wanted to see who has posted crank output numbers like these. Dyno sheet or it didn't happen....Haha. But seriously not slamming...just curious! :)
