Vigor Motorsports - Monster Seal - Magnum Off Road Racing Team wins at the Best in the Desert Canidae / Tap It Silver State 300

On May 2nd through the 4th the Vigor Motorsports, Monster Seal, Magnum Off-Road Race Team participated in the Best in the Desert Canidae Tap it Silver State 300 off road race; the third of the six race series. The event started on Friday with both cars on display at the Aliante Casino in North Las Vegas for Technical Inspection and Contingency Registration. On Saturday the event moved two hours Northeast into the desert off Highway 93 between the towns of Alamo and Caliente for the start at 5:30am.

By luck of the draw both Vigor Motorsports cars went off the line nose to tail, with the first being the 1971 John Deere Gator XUV DSR1. Due to a pre-race mishap Matt Krimple who was scheduled to start had to step back and let, back up driver Mike Mercurio and co driver Sarah Krimple take the green flag. After a rough outing at the Mint 400 the team was ready to get 1971 back to the top of Pro UTV/DSR1 class podium. The race started well with Mike and Sarah running smooth trading the lead back and forth with the other cars in the class. By race mile 145 at Pit 4 Matt was ready to jump in the driver's seat to finish the race. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. At mile 152 all progress stopped when a simple machined bung failed. Due to the location on the course there was no way to proceed or make the repairs necessary to go on. So, Matt and Sarah had no choice but to become spectators as the rest of the field made their way past. Another reminder that off-road racing is brutal on every component. A simple part that showed no signs of wear simply failed. Six hours after the car broke, the chase team was allowed to make their way to the car in order to make repairs. Matt drove the car back to the highway where it was loaded on to the trailer.

The second of the two Vigor Motorsports John Deere Gators, the 1951 John Deere RSX 850i Gator left the start line with high expectations as well. Coming off a good finish at the Best in the Desert General Tire Mint 400, the John Deere RSX 850i Gator driven by Scott Martinez and co-driver Rachel Martinez was looking for the win in the Pro UTV 850 class. The race could not have gone smoother for Vigor Motorsports/Monster Seal John Deere RSX850i with not so much as a flat tire over the 297 miles. The Vigor Motorsports/Monster Seal John Deere RSX850i finished first in the Pro UTV 850 class and 13th UTV overall on this very fast course. This finish, again demonstrates the durability of the John Deere RSX850i.
