Awesome video Ken, as much as I wish we were running the Nationals this season were having a blast running the SuperLite at the Regional's. You guys are doing a great job growing the series.

Very cool video, nice work!! Its our first taste of NO ON THE TRACK MEDIA anymore. Super bummed about that. For those who don't know there will no longer be any MEDIA on the track to film or shoot pics. We will be left to fend for locations along the fence all season which is better than nothing but content is going to suffer.

It does suck but it's better then having a dead or injured photo guy! Not sure if you've been on the track when the Pro 2/4s are running but it's pretty Gnarly!! Better safe the sorry.

I have been out there a bunch and yeah its gnarly but we all sign waivers and know the dangers. Its the risk we all take to get the bad ass pics. Good photogs with long lenses will still get good pics but people thought all the shots looked the same before it will be worse now.
I will be out there occasionally to still get coverage for our peeps but now that there is no UTV racing I am not as worried about the media situation as most of the media guys. Its a bummer but its the way it is.
Ken, was this decision made by LOORRS as a safety precaution or was it made to save money on insurance costs? Both?

I can answer this, it was made by thier insurance carrier.
There were a couple of close calls last year and one incident involving a truck and a camera tower that led to this call.
One of the close calls came when Cody won Round 2 last year. Just as he went to give his podium interview the Limited Buggys took off drowning him out, I was pissed and spoke to (yelled at) Tony only to find out that some photogs wanted to cross the track, they were told by someone to "Go." somone else heard "Go" and let the Limited Buggys "Go" and the camers guys almost got ran over.
A couple of these and its no camera people or no insurance.
Watch seconds 10-15 of this video. Look at how close Jake and Austin in Utah get to the camera and fenced area. Another close call, watch from 2:33 forward when Brent gets cleaned out. Gabel, the driver of the SL that took out Brent locked up and went full bore into the K rail that protected the corner worker. You can see how the sun was in his eyes and Ill bet you he didnt even know what was coming his was till it was over. I could see an underwriter getting a little worried about this.

After watching the racing last year, I gotta agree with this call by LOORRS. Yes, everyone signs a waiver, but we all know that waivers mean nothing when a lawyer gets involved. I'd rather have the photogs safe behind a fence getting OK shots than than have someone get seriously hurt and have our series change forever. I have heard the corner workers may also be in trucks this year.....good for them. Safer for everyone, I believe.
