Vegas to Reno 2012 Roll Call

Testing today without me...so sad! :(

But no news is good news...right? :)

I think the new 570 should rock V2R!

Yea..... uuhhhh ....... sorry about the 570 but your other driver sort of wadded it up today...... Yea,, he's oaky but the 570 is in pretty bad shape it starts but is only hitting on one cyl. If you stay home from ARGENTINA and come over to help we may get it back up and running in time.

:D

:D

Naw...I have to go to Buenos Aires. But I think the easier thing to do is gain back the 82 lbs I lost in order to drive the 570, fire the former Soviet ballerina co-driver, and have Landon ride bitch with me in the RZR XP4 900 (-2) JX Bobsled at V2R.

But seriously, looking forward to racing. This is going to be a blast. So far the weather forecast looks ok, but it is early days.

The old DSR1 is coming together. New wheels, pit bull sent all new tires for this race and we are attempting to go the whole way on one set, new motor :D, our own front spindles with gear one super buggy hubs ( custom made to rhino bolt pattern), taller gearing that will put us well over 100 mph, ( watch the IRC tracker for the results) more clearance and new power steering. All we need to do is bleed the brakes and add another coat of WD40 and we are ready to go.

Will this be the year that the first four wheeled car on the podium is a UTV? What would our speeds have to be to accomplish that?

It's very possible. If the first place truck avg. 55.5 same as last years winner us utvs only need to avg. About 43 to pull it off. Recent averages have been just about that if not a little higher for top sxs. Let's go have some fun!

So is this next weekend 8-18-2012 ?

When and where exactly does it start or I should say where is the best place to watch some of it?

I was planing on getting out to see it this year but didn't put it on the calendar so not sure if I can make it to watch.

Bryan

Bryan,

Give me a shout and I can fill you in on all the details if you want.

Hope you can make it out! See the rest of you in Vegas!

How far are you guys going to drive before a switch? Seems like some are planning to drive the whole thing. I was thinking of getting out in the middle for 150 miles. This is my first VTR.

I would be willing to bet that every team has a different plan. I do think that trying to 'iron man' V2R in a UTV is a tad whacked. It is a long, hot race and I honestly don't think this is the fastest way to the checkered flag IMHO. From what I hear some teams are planning one drivers change in the middle, some are going to do two. And 'yes' I have heard of some guys doing what you are planning, which is to...start, have someone do the middle, then get back in for the end. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer, as it depends on available drivers and co-dogs, chase crews, fuel range, pit location, stamina, # of beers you drank the night before, etc.

OK this race starts at 6:00 am tomorrow morning.

Best of luck to everyone racing.

I will be watching from afar.

Remember what your mom said
"drink lots of water"
lol

Bryan.

Race is underway.

I am tracking some of our forum members

The Side by Sides are Class 1900

Go

If you want to see it as they race on a map here is a link to see it LIVE.

Vegas 2 Reno 2012 Live satellite map tracking.
you can move your mouse over the cars and see how fast they are going an who they are.

I am watching a couple of our own.
1920 Michael Lansky in a Commander 1000
And
1917 Jason Murry in a Commander 1000

1920 Lansky got off to a great start in maybe 3 for some time then had some trouble around mile 64. After maybe 30 minutes not sure how long got moving again Looks like it is taken care of because he has been making up a lot of time but near the back of the SxS's.

1917 Murry has been running in second in the SxS's for most of the race, behind 1936 Joseph R Vinagro who has been holding the SxS's lead at mile 156 of 500 after 4 hours and 20 minutes and currently going 47 MPH.

Here is another link to track the race and this one show the map a little more basic but you can click on the cars you are watching so only they are highlighted.
This on requires flash.
If using a iPhone or iPad you would need a App like Puffin or Photon to run flash.

Wow 1917 Jason Murray is now in the lead with a 2 mile gap to the next SxS 1934 driven by Scott Kiger.

Not sure what happens to the leader up to this point (mile 165) but 1936 Vinagro is looking like he took a wrong turn just before marker 162 taking him into the hills off the course.

1932 Matt Parks is running third about 6 miles behind the Murrays

1936 seems to be back on course in fourth 9 miles behind the Murrays.

1911 Martinez is going strong at mile marker 162 going 29 MPH

Meanwhile Murrays are are holding on to the lead at marker 228 going 55 MPH down a straight away.

1911 Martinez is in 15 th place out of 23 in the SxS class.
With 1987 McCrady 2 miles ahead and 1943 Guerin 2 miles behind him.
