Sand Sports Super Show 2014 is officially in the books and what a show it was! It seems like every year the percentage of UTVs at this event increases and this one was no different. With tons of aftermarket companies vying for the attention of show patrons and a good showing from the OEM manufacturers it’s safe to say the UTVs have taken over.

There were still a number of the high-dollar buggy builds that characterize sand culture peppered throughout the show and they were spectacular as always. With shrinking numbers of these style builds, only the biggest and baddest are on display.

Custom UTV builds were everywhere you turned, from completely one off machines like SDR’s Christine (link to build) to brand new product lines like Pro Armor’s ProBilt and everything in between, there was certainly something for everyone. Many exhibitors had new stuff in the works that didn’t quite get finished in time for the show, so keep an eye out for more exciting news in the weeks to come.

With all the impressive products on display this year the decision wasn’t easy but our pick for innovative new product of the show is the Assault UTV Quick Release Steering Wheel. It features a newly designed locking collar and mounting base along with an integrated location for a push-to-talk radio button. Easily removable with a solid and strong lock engagement, it is a great addition to Assault’s product line and it would be at home on any play or race UTV.

Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks series was on hand again this year putting on a great racing spectacle. UTVs, 1400 Trucks and the SST trucks all went head to head on Friday and Saturday nights to entertain spectators after a long day at the show. The action certainly didn’t disappoint with great racing, a high flying crossover jump and a few gnarly wrecks.

In addition to the Sand Show, this time of year also ushers in the start of the desert riding season. Enjoy these photos, get on those oil changes, maybe grab some new gear or go-fast goodies and get ready to spend a lot of time in the dirt!
