First congrats to all the teams that raced this iconic event. I have not read any of the personal reports but it was a hell of a day of racing.
I know this is just one race but for perspective according to the unofficial results the Murray's had an overall time of 12:05. That would put them 37th overall in the cars and trucks. That time would also put them-
1st 1100
1st 2000 (1600)
1st 6000 (Trophy Lite)
1st 7100
1st 8100
1st 3000
1st 5000
1st 1700
1st 1800
1st 4400
2nd 8000

I know people will come up with any number of reasons to discredit these accomplishments but anyone that still thinks UTV's don't belong in desert racing has there head buried in the sand.

In addition it was not that long ago that we were celebrating that a UTV could even finish V2R and now it looks like about 50% finish rate.

Jagged X has led this charge and the newer teams are constantly stepping up and raising the bar. This is an exciting time.

Again congratulations to all the teams, sponsors, chasers, builders, preppers,
and supporters because we all know what it takes to do this.

I agree it was fast and clean run fpr the utvs but also remember we were on the course before all the TTs and class 1 cars. So those classes had a much rougher race than what we had to deal with.

WOW!. that is awesome, but If you post that over at race dez all you will hear is about 98% of them cry babies making excuses about how the sxs's still don't belong there. our golf carts still have no business in desert racing LOL.kinda pathetic really as we are doing nothing more than promoting the sport and helping keep their sport alive.i have gotten more shit for being in snore and hdra races (not by the promoters, just the racers).yet I placed better than a lot of the field.obviously not better than the tt and class 1's but still,we all should understand what we have in common,(desert racing).and help each other to save our sport here in the states.i must say it is a really cool feeling passing some of those other guys LOL

No excuses whatsoever! I was there pitting for our CHECKERS OFF-ROAD cars way into RM435 at Rawhide and was delighted to see several UTV/SXS running with the so-called "Big Boys." Proud to say that those who stepped up for this long haul, more than vindicated themselves and served extremely well the UTV/SXS communty.

UTV/SXS Off-Road Endurance is here and it's going to get bigger, better and larger, I feel it!

I was there chasing for Justin Lofton's class 1 car. We were physically in the top 3, 4 wheeled vehicles on the course and with about 250 miles to go we were the first vehicle on the course. With 30 miles to go we lost a CV and finished 9 in class, not sure where in the overall.

I have raced in several car classes and like playing with our XP4. I would consider racing one too someday as I see the potential of the class.

Where I have an issue is with the promoters. A UTV is a 4 wheel vehicle. I don't get the thoery of UTV's starting with the bikes. I think the UTV's should be starting in the 4wheel class, and start position needs to be based by finishing results. If the UTV's are finishing with the 1600 cars, then they should start in that pack. If the UTV's are being beat by the stock truck classes, then start them behind the Stock Truck classes. But it makes zero sense to me to start the UTV's after the bikes and a few hours before the Ulimited trucks & cars. Technically BITD is making the UTV's the first 4 wheel vehicles off the line, just with a few hours head start. To me Casey is making the UTV class dangerous, and makes the other class not like or respect the UTV racers. You would get more respect if you started with the other 4 wheel classes and then everyone could see real finishing results compared to other 4 wheel classes. Class 11 racers get way more respect from the TT's & Class 1 guys then a UTV guy would get. Personally I to understand how I why they don't like UTV racers, because if I was still racing, I too would be anoyed with UTV's being in the way. Plus it is so dangerous!

good points. I see what your saying.why not try this out, or are they not willing to .makes perfect sense to put the sxs's in with close to the same running times.instead of infront of 100 plus mph cars and trucks

there are 2 ways to look at it. look at score and see how many utv's finished how many started and did they gain any respect. look at bitd how many fiished and how many entered did they gain any respect. just to let you know I would rather start early and deal with I would say 10 -15 cars and truck pass us then being in the middle of pack with a bunch donkeys. out of all 10-15 cars that passed us only had 2 issues. to fix those issues every class 1 and trophy truck must run front lights on maybe have one flash like jaggy so you no when to move over. just saying

Hey Tim

Thanks for the props!

I want to go on record by saying that if BITD ever decides that the UTV class belongs with the rest of the four wheel classes that we are on board and ready to race! Either way we are okay.

I also want to say that I believe that Casey Folks' number one priority is the safety of every racer, volunteer, and spectator who participates in their events.

and his number 2 priority is fairness to every racer.

I know this has been debated heavily on both sides of the coin but I believe that BITD is an outstanding organization and we are proud to be a part of it.
