Well after a ton of e-mails and help from friends(you know who you are) to get this deal. It took a lot of time to bring another factory team into desert racing. I have been around desert racing my whole life. i have seen them all come and go. i didn't want to see that happen with such an established company like John Deere.
So for the build it is an 825i model gator for more info go to www.johndeere.com/gator
The fabrication of the cage is being handled by Dario Lopez over at Elite Off Road Performance he has done multiple builds for myself and friends he is building a new class 1 car for one of my best friends.
Here are some of the sponsors that have stepped up for this project
FOX Shoxs : 2.5 internal by-bass coil-overs and all 4 corners
GBC Motorsports : Dirt Commander Tires on all 4 corners
Rigid Industries: Amber light bars for the front and rear with blue light built in along with the amber
Simpson Race Products window nets harness' helmet
Dirtbagz tool bags impact bags cv boot protectors
Ringers gloves driving gloves gear bags work gloves heat shields
MSD Ignition Plug wires and coils
Without the support of these sponsors we would not be able to do this build and get out there and racing with the UTV community
The tear down began on december 26th after delivery of the Gator on three days before christmas. (early presents for myself and the crew) We tore apart the whole thing and removed over 650lbs off of the gator. Tear downs are new to me i have always just started with a pile of tubing and start building a chassis. So i was documenting everything labeling everything and a lot of photos. So i will be updating this thread as it goes.
to get some of the questions out of the way.
There will not be a long travel on this unit. (at this time)
It will have some small motor upgrades with help from john deere and others
We will be racing BITD (missed first race) and SNORE
12 gallon fuel cell
11/2 dom cage by elite
hope to have some feedback as we go on
i really have to thank joey for having a great site for all of us to call home
now for some photos
