So sitting here looking at out race car (one gear racing) what's people's opinions on the future of the UTV class do u believe the 900 will be able to compete on the same level as the 1000... Do u see a huge advantage the 1000 has over the 900.. What are ur predictions for teams cars for the 2014 season...

Well we have yet to see any XP1000 really race yet. But knowing the rules are the same for the 900 & 1000 I don't know if there will be a big advantage. Each model has to have its share of mods to be race worthy. The rules say 1000cc max, so you can bore the 900 to 1000cc as many have already done. So HP is not the issue.

It's only a matter of time before we see a competitive 1000, but I don't think they will dominate and obsolete the XP900. Especially a currently competitive XP900. I will say I have not looked at the 1000 close enough with a race prospective to see how it might compare. I will say I have done so with the XP4 900 and I see allot of things that can be done to the XP 900 to make it even better, that I have yet to see anyone do. Many dont seem to be taking advantage of the rules.

I remember when Matt parks with a 800 4 seater beat 2 seat x 900xp all year to win bitd championship. Will the 1000 have the same learning curve. On that note would it be legal for me to put 1000 motor in 900 chassis.

Ya I agree that I all reality if u look at a 1000 it is the same motor different internals ( for the most part I know there are differences besides just that but u get what I'm saying ) the tranny gearing is different and it has longer travel but I think if a 900 is built correctly it could be just as competitive as a 1000 just might take more work.. As for dropping a 1000 motor and tranny into a 900 the rule book says nothing against it since it is still under the 1000 limit and still the same motor but u run into many other issues that go along with trying to marry up the two different years and motor tranny packages

As far as race cars goes, the "leaps and bounds" improvements over previous years. Is getting smaller and smaller. Basically everyone is getting better.

I think every car that is competitive this year. Will/could be competitive in 2014-2015. Unless there are rules changes.

I could be just as wrong as I may be right, but I don't think it would be hard to put the 1000 drivetrain into a 900 chassis... Are there any advantages? we probably will find out soon.... I've thought about this many times while working graveyards, but I know I'm not the only one to consider it.... So, what are everyone elses thoughts?

right now a big block 900 is faster than a stock 1000.

True but then again horse power doesn't always mean a win either, that's the crazy part about the UTV class I have to keep reminding myself it's about consistency and not breaking versus hauling ass and breaking... This season will be a true test of out team and car but hopefully not my pocket book, a Fireman's salary is not made to race off road haha

Shrive the answer I think you want to hear is YES.....you car can be competitive next season and probably the season after. The XP900 is a great platform....will the 1000 be great too? No doubt...but I am sure just like any new model there will be some learning to do.
