Traxxas TORC Series Presented by AMSOIL To Open BIG IN TEXAS
May 15th-16th at Texas Motor Speedway

Crandon, WI (March 17, 2009)-Less than a week after being notified its first scheduled race venue had been sold, the officials from The Traxxas TORC Series and Texas Motor Speedway, have agreed to hold two big nights of Pro Class Racing on May 15th and 16th under the lights and in front of TV cameras. To kick-off this "East meets West" opening, TORC has provided the PDG with over $50,000 dollars, guaranteed to be paid out to pro teams that make the trip to Fort Worth. (Details will follow on the payout procedure from PDG).

The opening weekend will be a "Pro only event" (Pro Light, Pro 2WD, Pro 4x4) and TORC will schedule an additional Sportsman weekend on the west coast, location to be announced shortly. TORC officials and members of the PDG are working together to format an exciting race format that will surely light up the Texas crowd along with the television fans at home.

"This is really exciting that the Traxxas TORC Series has been able to arrange a race so quickly, and in Texas, a huge market–the number one for pickup truck sales," stated Steve Barlow, Red Bull Pro 4x4 driver and executive member of the PDG. "For the TORC series to be going to major markets like Fort Worth, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas and Crandon in its first year is truly amazing." Barlow continued. The additional event travel money is also a great way to kick the TORC season off right and make sure the pros get some help on travel costs."
