A small utv race team out of San Diego has been trying to secure an insurance policy in advance of racing the WORCS series.......if anyone knows of a broker or carrier that might be of help it would be appreciated. Their search begin in mid Nov. and to date they haven't received much from their broker by way of policy support. With less than 3 weeks to Taft there is a real need to get coverage....

I don't believe there is any insurance carrier that will cover your sxs while in a race or competition. There are many insurance carriers that will protect you for liability and coverage for the car for recreational use and theft. Racing is a major exclusion in the policy.

Yes K & K insurance does racing insurance. its called Owners and sponsors general liability. We run insurance on our cars throughout the year for both Lucas oil racing series and the dirt series. It cost roughly around $3-6k a year to run 4 vehicles but you need to send in an apllication and they review your needs based on what you want covered. Do you want Owners only covered? How many cars are racing? Do you want sponsors too? Do you want them to be added as additionally insured? What sponsors? do you want thieft? do you want shop? Do you want bodily injury to driver? They are very specific on what they ask and what you are exactly going to be covered on.
Trust me this is not easy stuff to deal with so make sure you have the budgets to run a team.
We are currently the only Pro Utv Team that carries insurance that I know of. I have asked multiple racers and teams throughout the past two years and I have not met anyone else that carries insurance for UTV Racing.
BTW I am not an inusrance agent and this is for informational purposes only so do your homework and make sure you know what you are getting.

When you start running sponsor logos on your tow rigs and race vehicles, it's a nice sponsor bonus to include them on your general liability policy, as well. Something most people don't think about, but it gives your sponsor an extra layer of protection in case you get in an accident going to/from a race, or hurt someone on the race course, etc. And some sponsors might not have any insurance of their own.....scary, but true, so that's a little bit of added value you can offer.
