I though this year it would be cool to share some more of our factory racing program with everyone here. Racer Tech is from MI and while we get out west quite a bit, our main market is the midwest and the east coast so naturally this is where we spend most of our energy and resources. This thread will chronicle the builds and progress of our Polaris GNCC race team for 2015. We've been absolutely slammed here lately getting these cars built and trying to keep up with normal production work but now that our first race of the season is done we can start getting back to normal and I can share all the cool custom stuff we've been developing.
This year we consolidated our RT Pro team a bit due to great opportunity coming our way. At the end of 2014 the biggest and most respected team in GNCC racing (possibly all UTV racing) approached us and asked if we would be interested in working with them for 2015. We jumped at the opportunity and found a way to limit our program to this one factory Polaris team and one other factory Can Am team. These two teams are actually made up of really good friends who are extremely dedicated to the sport and take racing, preparation, testing and development to a whole different level.
For 2015 we are proud to announce we are working exclusively with Coastal Racing for all of our east coast racing program. These guys are very tight with Polaris and have been doing UTV racing at a professional level longer than anyone else in the business. We were extremely honored to be approached by them and are excited to see where this venture takes us.
The Coastal racing team is owned and operated by Scott Kiger who is also one of the best drivers in the business. Scott will compete this year in XC1 with his RZR XP 1000. The team consists of Scott, William Yokley, John Yokley, Sam Yokley, John Henry and Sean Bogdan. William Yokley has won the GNCC XC1 national championship 5 out of the 7 years it has been in existence and is one of the most successful drivers in UTV racing history. His nephew John Yokley has been racing UTV's in XC1 class for over three years now and consistently places w/in the top 3 or better at nearly every event. Sam Yokley is John's little brother who will be heading up our brand new Polaris Ace racing program along with Scott Kiger in the brand new GNCC "SS" single seat class. John Henry and Sean Bogdan round out the team competing in the XC2 limited class. John Henry was nearly the champion of this class last season but ended up 2nd. All of these guys are basically top 5 finishers across their entire careers so we're very honored to be working with them! Aside from Scott's XP 1000 all the other cars on the team this year are the new RZR 900 S.
Here's some pics of the builds as we completed different aspects of the cages, bumpers ect. A LOT of this stuff will not be for sale on our site for a while yet but as we work out kinks and find things we think we can make and sell reasonably, if there's a strong demand for it, we may be able to offer some of this to other customers. Right now we're so backed up with existing production work for our standard product line we really just don't want to add more to the pile until we're caught up a little anyways! If you see something you can't live w/o just email ben@racertech.com or call and ask for him (if you can be patient if he can't call you back right away)
