RACE STARTS

We are in the process of building a UTV track specifically for UTV's to practice and hold races. I need help figuring out what you guys like best.
1.gate starts or rolling starts.
2.qualifyng postions to start or just first to line up.

Guys we are making a UTV only track I need some more input to get this rolling we are starting next week so if anybody has any suggestions now is the time to put them in. This track will be open all the time for open practices and monthly races. It's a local track and it's gonna be badass. I just need to know what starts everybody likes the best.

Track is under construction as we speak. its location will be released on the day we do a release of the track. It will be around riverside area.

gate start is way more fun, but not necessary. make the track at least 4 wide. some nice big floater jumps with eliptical lips and forgiving at the beginning landings that arent too flat, eliptical lip= the final angle should be a typical car length long. makes for nice predictable hang time without anything funky going on. a tight section. a fast section. if you have to make whoops or washboards make em more of the rolling type vs square edge or holes or all your gonna do is break the cv's and axles of your drivers cars. a split lane that is equal timewise is ok. smaller poppy tables need correctly built landings, the little ones can do some spine damage just as easily as the big ones.

best track ive raced a utv on is e.t. motopark. jumps were perfect with great air.

Rolling starts are good for avoiding the big crash(imo). But if I had a chance to build a track it would have split lanes(like c&c said),with whoops in the inside shorter route, and the outer a fast sweeper.Like the old Mickey Tompson days.

I love this.

This new track will be sick and we will be involved!!

Glen Helen talladega turn, into Anza,s American flag jump, 395s rythem sections and then the whole speed world track!

Gate would be cool, but how does a peice of conduit stop a 1400lb utv, just throw a flag

The track on our map is around 30-40 ft wide so this should be enough room to pass clean. I think qualifying for starting position will be one of the deals and possibly a rolling start in rows of two.
If no one likes it this way we can change it as we move forward

gates arent made from conduit. most are at least .120 wall mild with chains welded as limit straps so they dont flip forward. if the starter does his job right, everyone is very close to the gate so you wont be ramming the gate with any speed. plus if its a concrete start its even easier on the gate if you try to jump it. besides you get stuck once you learn your lesson.

gates are fun. use flags as a back up.

I would have to be 10 feet from the gate to see it drop when sitting in my race car,its not like a dirt bike or quad.I like a heat race with qualifying but a flag drop is fine also_Oh yah,you should build it in Arizona.

i dont watch " my " gate on a bike. you watch the next gate, much better idea of when it falls. ive never had an issue to where i couldnt see a gate or 2 to my left.
