Doug Mittag & UglyKidJoe getting it on!

First off we need to do some thanking!

Jacob Briones, this guy works his butt off to make this event go down! All his people at Soboba really did a fantastic job making this event the best it could be, without them there is no way the Soboba GP would even exist so much props to Jacob and the fine people of Soboba Indian reservation for doing this and letting us come to their land to enjoy our sport. I also want to thank Stormin' Norman for all of hard work in coordinating the vendors. He got us involved early along with Jacob and was a huge help throughout the entire planning process. I want to thank 4130 Clothing for coming out pretty much last minute with what turned out to be our only PA system at the entire event. They had tunes rocking and the mic was clutch. They also were slanging those UTVUnderground shirts all weekend which was awesome! Thank you also to everyone who bought one, we sold quite a few!

I want to thank each and every single racer and team that attended and competed. Without you, this is all a waste. I really want to thank those who traveled from outside of California and beyond. Vanbeekum, Sheakley, LSRGreg, Shane, Danny, Hans, and all you other AZ boys and girls thank you very much for coming out and playing with us here! I need to also say thank you to every single racer who ran our stickers and repped for UTVUnderground, not just here but everywhere! You don't know how excited I get to look at my pictures and see all those stickers on everyone's car!!!!! We need a special thank you to all of UTVUnderground's La Famila, and Big Mike who rolled out to support the event by volunteering as track officials. That was huge and a large task to say the least. Big props to the UTVUnderground sponsors who helped us out here, Daystar-what can I say about Mark? The guy totals his SR1 going MASSIVE in the Soboba Leap competition and then hands Tyler $1000.00 of his own money as promised! Unreal!! Monster Energy for tacking me up huge fueling the entire Underground all weekend long, Kawasaki for the bad ass new Easy-Ups they gave us, Polaris for the sick RZR4 that I got to pre run with and use as the official vehicle for us this weekend, and all of the other sponsors such as Walker Evans, VIAIR, Magnum Offroad, etc etc who came out to participate and compete!

Lastly I need to thank all of the Underground family who came out to support this event with me and to camp for the weekend. My boys Rusty and Dan Fernandez(offroadswapmeet), The Winbury's (one of my all time favorite adopted families!lol), my lovely wife and kids, Mike from Magnum Offroad, LSR Greg, Bickle and Eric, Bobby, Justin, Shane, Joe, and Danny, Breven, Papa Bear, Big Mike, and everyone else if I forgot you its cause I am still whipped but I love you the same! hahaah

Now for the race....

I wont say too much cause I need to save some love for the UTV Off Road Magazine story but I will say this could easily have been the 2011 UTV event of the year. I think we ended up with about 41 UTV's in the race itself and probably over 100 UTV's in total if not more just running around the facility during the weekend. I will have to say my highlight of the weekend was the UTVUnderground/Daystar/Soboba Casino SOBOBA LEAP long jump contest. This event with off with people estimating around 1000 people lining up around the hillside to watch this exciting event. Turner (Monstrosity) going large and wadding his SR1 was terrifying but him getting out and telling me to GO BIG OR GO HOME was just epic! The guy is a hero in my book, he friggen has balls of steel! My homie Tyler Winbury just threw it down going over 90ft to take the big $2000.00 purse home and set what we think is an un-official new world record. Bobby was no slouch himself!! he flew his Teryx well over 80ft! Hell Big Mike's son took the 130hp RZR4 over 50ft! hahahah So awesome.

The race itself was everything we new it would be, exciting, huge, and hard! The land rush start was just mayhem, everyone trying to get to that first turn was comedy. Tyler hit someones tire and launched a wheelie, Bobby got to the turn first with Doug Mittag coming in a hot second in a stock 1000x Commander. By the end of the race the track had taken well over half the field out. Doug Mittag was leading most of the race in large part to the commander's awesome power and those FOX Magnum Offroad tuned shocks, well and Bobby blowing the lead by going off course....lol..but then Dougie lost a tie rod with only a lap or 2 left putting him out. Tyler Winbury after only a lap or 2 got hit by some serious heat stroke forcing a driver change where our boy Code Rahders then took over only to end up flipping the car about 4 times down a 120ft canyon..lol...poor kid was alright but super bummed as was his dad Doug. Winbury's were cool, they got something up there sleeve in regards to tin work and thankfully thats all that the car needs is some aluminum patched! One of the worst wrecks if not the worst wreck was RJ Anderson in the brand new Polaris RZR XP900, he also flew off a cliff and sustained some minor injuries, he was ok but definitely banged up. The XP900 from what I understand took a beating in the rollover which we thankfully got on in car camera!

In all the race ended in exciting fashion with our UTV Of The Year, a Bone stock RZR4 taking the checkered flag and the $5000.00 purse driven by Beau Baron who if I understand correctly also won the Pro Quad race! UTVUnderground racer and 2 time King Of The Hammers winner Mitch Guthrie got 2nd in his Polaris RZR, another Underground racer Brent Fouch 3rd in his Kawasaki Teryx, and I think both Garret George and Taylor George of team Funco Motorsports took 4th and 5th place in their Kawasaki Teryx's with our boy LSRGreg getting 6th in his SR1. I am waiting on official results now and will post those once they become available.

Thank you again to everyone who came out! Enjoy all the pics, stories, and videos here on UTVUnderground.com! I can't wait until the next Soboba race, but not sure I can wait a whole year, we may have to make something happen a little sooner!!!!!!

yeah he won the quad race too. I think he won the quad race the last 3 years in a row.

I agree that this was a great event. The Soboba Community really welcomed us to their home. It is a beautiful area and we really enjoyed our time there. Jacob and his staff put on a very organized and safe event. Daystar was proud to be a part of the event.

Joey you did an awesome job getting the word out and promoting this event. You made everyone feel welcome and made it fun.

<O:p</O:pAs for me I had a great time and will 100% be back next year. I was very happy to finish the race. I think this type of event is exactly what UTV racing needs to grow.

Thanks to all who competed and came out to watch. I hope to see all you next year.

Mark, thank you again for supporting and coming out to compete. I am so sorry about your car but glad you walked away both in good spirits and in good health. You will see by my video of the wreck I was terrified of the results....it will come soon so stay tuned!
