So we are looking to do some filming in late March in and around So Cal. We got the dunes locked up and the desert but we need some MOUNTAIN settings, something that appears like it could be anywhere in the USA.

Obviously we need to be able ride / drive UTVs and we would prefer it to hopefully not be freezing with snow on the ground.

Do you guys have any suggestions and or photos to assist us here?

thanks in advance!

Cleghorn would be a good option, not too far and has a good amount of hills and trails.

Rincon Shortcut is another good option as long as it is open, you should call ahead to verify, sometimes it is closed if there are heavy rains or recent fires.

Hey Joey... Hit up "Trukndave" about getting access to Frazier Park.... Not only do we maintain the trails up there but there is practically every terrain... river crossing, pine trees, rock crawling, abandoned radio tower.... Pretty sweet spot. Dave has contacts with the Ranger because of our trail maintenance and he can give you more insight on what and where you could gain access. Weather should be pretty decent in March and I imagine a lot of La Familia would come and support if you needed.

Dave's son put together a little video on one trip...

Maybe the backside of Big Bear, or there is a short (15 miles) trail from Bee canyon to Pine Cove near Idyllwild.

Really dude?

We've got enough trail to put together a 30 second edit.

In March - Most of the mountain areas will be 50/50 depending on how much snow we get this year.

Big Bear/Silverwood would be a good spot. Fraiser Park/Miller Jeep Trail is also a good spot. Good mix of trails and a little rock crawling.

Might want to look into Dove Springs as there are trails that take you from the desert floor to the mountains (the ride to the cabin). This might be your best spot. Temps during the day are mild.

You should do either Miller Canyon or Frazier park and include a little footage of your UTVUG volunteers doing trail cleanup and maintenance. Good way to promote it for the tree huggers. Just thinking out loud.

Dan ...

Miller canyon is your best bet. Big forest trees lots of trails, cool ass rocks. Theres open road , rock crawling, tight trails, high ridge trails. Nice views of mtns deserts and lake silverwood.

yes. cleghorn was what first came to my mind. used to take my jeep there weekly for quick rides. great place at top to eat lunch and pound some ice cold beer. good technical trails, with chicken lanes for the weak. nice settings for pics also.

Just go few minutes more to the East, out to my back yard Joey. Couple hundred thousand acres at your disposal. Never have to worry about getting busted for filming.
